Has anyone visited the Gaylord Hotel in Maryland for the Christmas on the Potomic activities? I would like to take my children and grandchildren but staying at the Gaylord would be too expensive for me. Are there other hotels nearby? I checked TRip Advisor but there was nothing listed for National Harbor, MD. Thanks for any info. :santa:

Not the Gaylord National, but DH and I go to Ice at the Gaylord Texan every year. It is absolutely worth it. Not only that, but the experience of just walking around the hotel and seeing all of the other Christmas decorations. Ours has a gingerbread house and snacks with Santa. We also make a night of it and eat dinner at one of the restaurants there.

My opinion is that it is definitely worth a couple hours of your time to enjoy the hotel :)

So you dont have to be staying at the hotel to go ICE?
Is there a show or is it a walk through? Do you have to go at a specific time?
i.e is it just at night or can you go in the daytime? About how much time would you allow?
Sorry for all of the questions and thanks for any answers!

And there are a couple of other hotels just across the street from the Gaylord National. Google 'National Harbor' area for hotels and you should find the names of them. Or just go to the Marriott site and search for hotels in National Harbor. One of them was a Marriott, but can't remember the name - may have been a Residence Inn. And I think the other hotel was a Hilton - maybe a Hilton Garden Inn?

You don't have to stay at the Gaylord, but make sure you wander through the lobby, it is incredible! You have to purchase tickets ahead of time because certain days/times do sell out quickly.

There are several other hotels right there (within walking distance). Like someone mentioned there is a Marriott and there is also a Hampton, probably a few more.

We waited too long last year and they were sold out so we are going to try again this year! Trying to find a discount code....

We are going this year. I got a pretty decent package deal. Tickets to ICE, and a nights stay for $200 for 3 people.

Thank you all for the info. I will start researching my options.
It sounds like fun! Hopefully one night will be enough!

No, anyone can go - hotel guests or not! It is a walk through and they do have specific times to purchase - I think just for crowd control. But you can walk up and buy tickets too, I think (we always buy ahead of time). You can take as little or as much time as you like walking through....15 min or an hour. Just pack all the winter necessities like gloves and earmuffs! They provide coats but you can also take your own if you like.

Edited - one night should be plenty. Just a couple of hours :)

Did you get ValPak coupon thing in the mail today (we did). There was a coupon in there for $4 off adult tickets.

Really? I'm in NoVA and there wasn't a coupon in ours for that. Darn. We are planning on going to that, too. I wonder if I can get one of my MD friends to send me their coupon.
