I was just watching Pinochio and very clearly heard Jiminy Cricket say *******???? What is up with that? I am in total disbelief..... I guess it is also weird that I thought that Jimminy Cricket was Tinkerbell's friend in Peter Pan and had no idea that he was the conscience of Pinochio.......That is what I get for waiting almost 40 years to watch Pinochio!!!!

I know that it is the word for donkey...I guess I am surprised Disney did not use the word Donkey. Maybe this had to do with my childhood when you know my grandma was REALLY mad and would call a somebody a ******* when they had done something wrong......especially in a car.....she had a BAD case of road rage!!

Funny story- My nephew who was 3 at the time, kept calling everyone a "*******". His DM was horrifed and could not believe where he got this from. You guessed it - Pinocchio!
Poor kid suffered much punishment before his DM figured it out.

Oh no ----- something else in a Disney movie has become "out-of-date and has been given a slightly different "meaning" over the years..... I guess I'd better buy up all the copies I can before it goes the way of "Song of the South" !!!!! LOL!


Waaaaaaaay back in my childhood days, I do remember ******* being a male donkey/mule. It was also a name for a foolish/stubborn person...(which I think was Jiminy's point)......... of course, now it's used to describe people in a more derogatory way.

Hmmmmm, I'd better get extra's of Peter Pan too....

I can't repeat here what my Gradmother calls people that make her mad! The term "*******" is mild in comparison!

Anyone else get a laugh that the word that caused the disbelief was used in the subject for the world to see?

And as far as the word becoming a "swear" it was just a name for someone behaving like a donkey.

******* is no more a swear word than the term for a female dog. As a dog breeder, I use it all the time in a non-derogatory manner, yet it gets bleeped here. How come we can say "colt" or "Mare" for horses, but not ******* or Jenny for donkeys? In canines, it's dog and *****, but I doubt we can type that here either.
