I can't believe I am actually saying this!!
Let me explain. We are going to WDW for Christmas and New Year. We have already been planning this trip for a year. As soon as we could we booked the rooms (we are going with our friends using their DVC points), we booked the flights (£3200 for 4 adults non refundable) and have booked backstage tours. Our families have known for a year already that we have been planning this trip and we were really excited about it.
However my sister in law who I love dearly phoned yesterday. She got engaged on Wednesday to her Australian boyfriend. They have decided to get married in Australia (not a problem, I would pay to go to Australia to be there for her wedding, she was my cheif bridesmaid at my wedding and my husband is her only brother.) However the date they have set is December 31st - when we are in WDW so we can not go!! They chose that date as her fiance has a large family who are mostly teachers and December is their big summer break. As a result of this decision only her mum and dad are going. I can't believe that I will not see my SIL on her wedding day. If we could change our trip I would but we can not. DH and I are teachers too so are limited to holiday dates, plus we can not afford to cancel as we would loose over £3000. My SIL knew this when they chose the date and does not expect us to attend. This upsets me a lot, but it is her day and I hope it is magical for her.
But now a trip that I have been looking forward to for a year already (I have been planning obsesively, my passporter is buldging!!) I am no longer looking forward to. I wish I was going to Australia instead. Never in a million years would I have though the words "I wish I wasn't going to Disney!" would ever have come out of my mouth.
Sorry it is such a long post.
