Met some CM friends here from DL and we waited as they had heard they might be allowed on MS before their training trip was over.
Lots of fun details, but I got on my number to enter my capsule and they gave us one last chance to back out and ... I did :(

I asked many questions about how close the screen came to my face and after getting too many answers that made de feel as if I might have an anxiety attack, I declined.

However I must say that the Post show games are way too much fun!!! I stayed in that room for over two hours,

Seriously, I get motion sickness myself, and just can't really enjoy a ride if I am fighting nausea or anxiety the whole time. I would rather another guest get to have their turn and enjoy. And sometimes it can take me a few hours to recover...not willing to take that risk! Can you tell us more about the Post Show area? That does sound cool, and my DS is huge into space stuff!

I get motion sick on every ride and take a dramamine before I enter the parks every day we're at WDW. I could not handle the teacups full speed w/o the dramamine. Now, if most people who can handle the teacups at full speed are getting sick on MS, I am wondering if I'd be able to manage MS on dramamine?! Or, would I get sick? Do you know what I mean? If I feel "normal" on rides w/taking dramamine, would I get sick ... b/c those who feel "normal" on rides w/o dramamine are getting sick on MS.
I did well on Star Tours w/the dramamine but DH was green around the gills (and he never gets sick on rides!).

Hmmmmm ... I might have to back out as well, esp. if I'd be feeling awful for a long time!!! Don't feel bad backing out -- if it meant doing the park and feeling lousy, I'd have backed out, too!

I only stayed in one area the entire two hours so I can tell you about that part. There are two screens up on the wall left and right. Left is for the Triton team (silver) and Right is for the Omega team (gold). There are 4 astronauts for each ship. There are approx 36 mission control stations.

Things go wrong with the space ship and mission control has to "create" the "fix" and shoot it to the astronauts so they can "repair" the problem. I was an astronaut 3 times and Mission Control 3. I can honestly say both were a lot of fun.

It is based on team work and the CM's made it lots and lots of fun!

Kathryn, I would have said you were nuts to back out, but I went on Body Wars on my last day of our trip and HATED IT! I felt so nauseous that I could only concentrate on how long until the ride was over. I like Daxx's dramamine idea. I'll try that next year AND THEN go on Mission: Space! The post-ride area sounds like fun, but if you were able to spend two hours there, I wonder if that will get as backed up and crowded as the ride itself.

BTW, we were definitely at OKW through June 1st. Good thing it wasn't an emergency that you were trying to reach me for!

Hi Pin Trader! I think it was very smart of you to decide against this ride. If I thought a ride would trigger an anxiety attack, I'd be off there in no time.

I am one of the fortunate ones who can ride anything and not feel sick. However, I really don't want to ride something where the people all around me are getting sick. Has anyone heard if there are many people who are actually vomiting on this ride, or is it mostly that people feel nauseated?

I don't think "most people who can handle the teacups at full speed are getting sick" is an accurate statement! It may have, at one time...but I went on Mission Space twice yesterday, back to back times. I won't even GO on the tea cups! I experienced no naseau nor did anyone I encountered. One woman was like "ugh" but that's about it. But she was freaked out about going on in the first place. If you keep your head back and face forward, looking at the screen and don't turn to the sides, I can't imagine it making people sick. It's not what you normally think of when you think of a spinning attraction. You wouldn't KNOW you were spinning if they didn't tell you!
I don't like body wars...I can manage it, but it makes me queasy, but MS gave me NO ill effects at all! It's just very intense.

Daxx -- how long does it take for the dramamine to take effect? Do you just take it in the AM on the day you are going, an hour before or what?

I will not do the tea cups and do get queazy on Star Tours. But given a chance to do Mission Space on our upcoming trip, I will HAVE to try it at least once. It sounds too cool to not try once.

I get sick on the teacups too, but I've done Mission Space three times and have been fine. Just stay focused on the screen in front of you and don't look left or right. Don't worry about leaning forward, because most of the time you can't!

Dramamine is a "take it in the morning once" kind of med. You should take it at least a half hour or so before riding. We give it to my daughter on long car rides. Sometimes she gets queasy, so why take a chance?

The problem with this med is it makes lots of folks very sleepy. This is fine on a car trip (if you are not the driver) but who wants to be tired at a park? For this reason we go with Dramamine 2, the "non-drowsy." I think Bonine is this same formula. It's meclizine, which is quite safe.

I never get motion sick but I am too chicken to try this ride!

Motion Sickness of ANY kind, so I guess I will be OK!;)

Probably better call your pharmacist and ask. I bet the answer will be "together they will make you sleepy." I suspect that you can combine ANYTHING with one Polynesian Pool Pina Colada and live to tell of it!

Wish I could be sipping one right about now! (with or without a Dramamine). --Wilma

Update,
Just met Penny and Frank at the Contemporary Pin Meet last night. They are the two I was in line with to ride MS. Penny didn't ride either. Her hubby Frank did. they both told me last night it was a good thing I changed my mind. She said he was green around the gills when he got off. and he said, he didn't feel so terriffic for a while after the ride ended.

In unison they both said "Good thing you changed your mind".

Don't even question it or feel bad about it.

Different people respond to stimuli in different manners.

Some people have a tough time on computers due to the frequency of the monitor. It can even cause them to go into convulsions. Motion sickness and other similar concerns afflict many people.

It's not something to worry about.

Rather, I applaud your courtesy in recognizing your specific condition and allowing the other guests to go on and enjoy the ride.

Never question your own judgement when it comes to such matters. Best wishes and I hope you went on to have a great time!

We do fine on Star Tours (have never done body Wars). How does MS compare?? Would my 5yo DS enjoy it? He also does fine on Star Tours. By the Way, right now I' m listening to "Tapestry of Dreams" on my Illuinations CD!

...is MS officially open to the public, or is it still a soft opening???(BTW ~ I love ALLLLL kinds of rides...the faster, higher, and scarier, the BETTER!:teeth: )

It's still a "pre-soft" opening. AFAIK the "official soft" opening is still around August 15.
