I went bagless for the first time

Regarding water and sunscreen:

We lather up the sunscreen before we head out. We take midday breaks since we go in August. So sunscreen is fine on us.

As for the water, we get it free at CS or just buy a bottle.

And with ponchos....we don't really worry about it too much. If we get wet we get wet. We do take 99C ones from Walmart with us. In two August trips we've been lucky that it has rained during our midday breaks for very short periods.

We got a glass of ice water at Aloha Isle and it tasted bad ! I had to spit it out because it tasted sort of like how a sewer smells :rolleyes2

SO GLAD it's just not me that feels this way. I call Disney water "toilet water." And I drink water right from the tap at home so I'm not a bottled water snob. I've ever tried the flavor packets and to me it's just undrinkable. Disney park tap water smells just like the toilet water in their restrooms!!!

Strangely enough, I can drink water from the tap in the resort rooms without problem.. it's just the parks..

Thinking about going bagless this trip. Only things I carry are sunglasses ( on head), iphone, small wallet for ID, some cash, MB and lipstick and travel size sunscreen. All this can fit in pockets.. Water bottle I carry in, nurse for the first few hours and then dump it.

Only problem is is when I wear a sundress, a lot of outfits I have have no pockets :(.. Here I use a side bag very small.

Also People, stop it with the first aid stuff!! The nurses station has EVERYTHING.. bandaids, ( advil, tylenol, motrin, allergry) been there. You dont need to bring this.

I can see a lot of people bring huge backpacks for RD to close crowds and for those who are penny pinching ( bring own snacks, food, drinks, non-dining plan people). A whole day with a group a kids, the need for these things would arise.

We go early afternoon to close with an ADR in there... so no need to carry anything. Cardigans if its cold we tie around our waists.

I'm going to have to disagree about first aid stuff. If someone in my family gets a headache or other pain, it's a lot easier to reach into my bag to grab the Tylenol than to spend time walking to the first aid station. Also, my DS tripped and fell on the way to the boat dock outside of DHS. He skinned his knee very badly. Blood was literally running down his leg. I was able to quickly grab the wet wipes out of my bag, clean the wound, slap on a couple of bandaids, and still make the next boat to the Dolphin. The stuff takes up hardly any space in my bag. Without it, we would have had to find a first aid station somewhere. We had already left the park. My little supply of first aid supplies saved us a lot of time and made my DS feel better a lot quicker.

I always go bagless. I just carry in my cargo shorts my wallet, phone and glasses case.

For me, I've beent WDW maybe 1000 times, I've never needed any medical supplies. :rotfl: You know many of the stores sell pain relievers. I just can't live my life worrying about needing an aspirin or a band aid. :lmao:

I personally don't want to pay an inflated price for a travel pack of NSAIDs when I have industrial size bottles at home and can easily carry a few. It's almost like people have different priorities. No need to be condescending.

For us it's worth the price to buy them at the inflated prices if we need them rather than carry a bag into the parks. In all of my trips we've only needed ibuprofen for a headache which I bring with us but keep in the room. I don't carry it into the parks. I also bring anti diarrhea medicine with us but not into the parks. We just hate carrying things.

After several trips with strollers and bags and one trip without I had so much more energy. Carrying all that stuff around burns energy for me. I wasn't nearly as exhausted as previous trips. And thankfully we did just fine.

If I had a kid that would be one thing, but if you go to Disney 100 times you might need a band aid once. I'm not lugging around a first aid kit in the extreme unlikely event I cut myself. If something happens, as someone said Disney has what I need. Now I understand some people do have conditions that require medical treatment, I am not talking about that, just bringing things "in case" something unforseen happens.

I think if it was a realistic chance of needing first aid, I would, but I've been going to Disney for 20 years regularly and so far have not needed so much as an aspirin or a band aid while at any park. Me personally, I don't see the sense in carrying a bunch of stuff around that 99% likely I won't ever even use. I'll risk having to spend extra if needed, but if I did cut myself where a band aid is needed, I could simply get one right there. I think though if I had children, that would be a different story, but I personally hate carrying things around and with the odds heavily against ever needing it, I'll take that chance. I'm certainly not being condescending in any way, just talking about my own preference. For me it's just too much of a hassle trying to figure out what to do with anything I"m carrying when going on rides as normally I travel solo.

Not debating about whether to carry band-aids or not, that is a personal choice.

But... Just in case someone was unaware, you can get basic medical supplies at any of the first aid stations. They have pain reliever, band-aids and sunblock all readily available for anyone who needs them and the best part is they are FREE.

They may be free, but it can be horribly inconvenient to have to walk to the first aid station. I'd much rather be able to grab a pill out of my pack, or pull out a band-aid than than have to take time out of my trip to hike to the first aid station.

Not the poster I'm quoting, but I don't get why some posters seem to feel that not having a bag on them makes them superior somehow. How crazy is that? Maybe you would rather carry your stuff in your pockets, or don't mind walking to the first aid station if you need some meds, but that doesn't suit everybody. Why the need to feel superior over something so silly?

I think I know who you are talking about and while I don't carry things I don't judge anyone for doing it. What anyone else does for themselves, doesn't affect me so why should I care/mind what someone else does? For me though (as I stated above), I hate carrying anything. I normally travel solo and for some rides that don't have compartments, I then have to rent a locker space to go on some rides. So if I'm at a park and want to buy something, if they can't have it shipped, I will just wait to buy it on the way out. I think if (for me) the need for first aid was a highly likely thing as opposed to extremely unlikely, I would think differently. But for me anyway, other than my medication for my illness, my Iphone and my wallet, that's it. I"m also a stubborn male. It takes something big to reach for a band aid. For those with children, I entirely understand the need for the back pack or of course people with medical conditions. (Though of course to each his/her own).

I hadn't considered this until reading this thread.

I hate to carry things!! We are on property with DxDP and magic bands. iPhones are cameras and planning on MM. ponchos can go in a pocket and we like the once a day sunscreen like P20 so I am thinking just maybe.... My iphone case has space for a bandaid in there...

I'm going to try it.

Feel like such a rebel!!

That's a good idea. Unless someone is really clumsy (and at that point I would think a trip to the ER might be in order) if more than 3 bandaids (1 of each varying sizes) is needed then odds are it's a cut(s) that needs more attention than a band aid.

I do though think it's dangerous to assume anything. Sort of like assuming someone who is walking doesn't need a handicapped parking sticker. Some people may have medical or embarrassing personal issues that require them to take some kind of medication that can't go in the pocket. I happen to have ESRD (kidney failure). I probably keep the pharmacy in business. I am able to minimize it because the current list of meds I am on are all pill form (except for one injection which I take once a week) and can easily fit in one snack bag. Just don't assume you know what someone is going through. I know in the past I would scoff when I saw someone (without children) walk in with what looks like two weeks luggage. Not anymore.

Try and keep a little cash on you too. More than once I have been in line at a cart or kiosk that was taking only cash for payments. You don't want to be in line for a water, and then have to go find a cart that is able to take your magic band.

I never carry a bad unless there is something I absolutely need and it won't fit in my pockets.

Usual supplies are: phone, DL, credit card, a little cash, and lipstick crayon/chapstick (I get the kind that is both).

For those who like pills, buy a Dramamine bottle (those skinny ones), take out the Dramamine and slip in some Advil or whatever. Fits in the pocket like a charm.

Been bag less for years now. If I need a Advil or band aid I just go to a park first aid station and they give them to you for free.

I usually slip an aspirin or two in a little ziplock that buttons come in and put that in my wallet. It's just easier to not carry a bag. I do find it freeing. When we do carry a bag, the husband is the one to carry it, so I'm still free :) For those that carry a bag, great. No hating on you. I have a friend that lives by the boy scout rule and has everything under the sun ready for "in case". It def works for some people.
