Colored all the way...!!!!

I like lots of combinations. I like white used to outline maybe with one or two colors trimming bushes or trees or whatever. A mix like Rock'n Robin has can be real pretty too.

Lots of Color and lots of Twinkle!!

Hey Charlie,
Well I know what you mean about those big bulbs. My grandmother had them for years. Anyway I am one who likes to decorate the tree with inside the house with white lights. Outside the colors are ok. You see one year my mom did a themed tree and made everything Silver & Gold and it was trimmed with White lights. I really liked that theme and I guess with all the white lights it made the Silver and Gold really stand out. Anyway I am not fond of the icicles myself but with that recen snow it almost looked real :teeth:

Oh well I hope everyone has a good Holiday this year

8000 colors on the house, white blah (lets see if we all can do the same thing as the next guy NOT). originalty a plus i think.

We have green lights on the tree, but everything else, inside and out, is white.

My husband, like Charlie, prefers colored lights, so it looks like next year we'll invest in some new colored lights and then we'll alternate every year between white and colored.

Compromising on Christmas lights...maybe we're finally getting this "marriage" thing down!! :p

LOL!

I'm a white light girl myself (please don't hate me Charlie :( )

I don't hate the colored light people - I love all light people, no matter what color. :)

I wish your family a safe and happy holidays. I'm sorry you had to see the ugliness of some people. ;)

Outside, we have a Santa, Rudolph, soldier and snowman that have mostly colored lights, so on the bushes behind them and along the gutters we just use white lights as a "backdrop." On the tree, however, it's all colors, including M&M guy lights and Snoopy lights. (We have a very eclectic tree, just the way I like it.)

We are half and half. Colored lights on the rails and house and white rope lights in the yard.

All the huge houses in our neighborhood do each of their trees a different color and it is sooo pretty. My city would have to be split oh about 70-30 towards colored lights- As the 10 houses on my street all but 3 have colored lights and 2 do half and half

white lights just are boring imo

This editorial is just hysterical. I laughed so hard i cried, and laughed harder when i found out it was a yearly post. Terrific:jester:

Anyhow, Its multi colored lights for me all the way. In my parents house we used to do red candles in the windows(house is now sold). My friends used to love it cause they got stuck with white lightsat their houses. I've heard more than 1 person say by new year's their eyes are totally shot with all the white brightness. Don't know how ppl stand it myself.
As for big 70's bulbs, those will be on my tree. Got lucky and found them over thanksgiving weekend. They really are the easiest strings to fix. 1 bulb burns out, replace it and your done.
I like twinkle lights too, but they can be PIAs. Though the twinkle lights wil be on our wreath once i get it done this weekend.

Too funny....! :)

An annual tradition, for certain... ;)

PS: No color for SSB! (eek!)

I saw the title and thought it was "I hate all White Chocolate" I personally hate white chocolate:mad:

It is indeed a sign of the holidays when Charlie does this annual post:teeth: ::yes::

My tiny colored lights were buried with snow last week and couldn't even be seen. My neighbor's big, old-fashioned colored lights glowed right through the deep snow, creating a warm, fuzzy frame around her house. The size of my lights is obviously inferior. I have light envy.

Last night I saw one house with icicle lights that really looked nice. It was in Sandwich, Il. It was a big, expensive home, probably 3 stories with lots of different, peaked roof lines. It did look cool, especially from a distance.

We are in a new house and barely got the lawn in before the frost, let alone the shrubs, so nothig to hang our old colored C-9 (large) bulbs, but next year look out !

I love the way those large bulbs look under heavy snow !

I am ashamed to say that I have hung white icicle lights on my house for the first time this year.

Before you boil me in pudding or drive a stake of holly through my heart (which grew three sizes that day!) hear me out!

I have never done exterior lights on my house. Oh certainly in my dorm windows and along the walls of my cubicle at work I did chasing colored lights, but as an adult with my own home...nada.

Now that I have two daughters and we moved into a new house this year, we decided it was the time, and I must admit, I like the way they look.

Of course, my Christmas tree has strings of colored lights that blink. I almost feel a bit snobbish there too because this is the first year that they ALL blink! In the past there was usually at least one strand that was solid. :p

I am proud to say that my neighbors across the street have the old fashioned, grandma bulb outdoor colored lights. However, the outside of the houses (and bushes) of other homes on the street are solid color - white and one that is blue.

If everyone else in the neighborhood did solid white, I promise I would have put up colored lights to keep it alive.

Can I make it up if I promise to put a hard plastic nativity scene in my front yard with another plastic snowman, reindeer, or Santa next to the stable or wise men?
