I am ashamed to say that I have hung white icicle lights on my house for the first time this year.
Before you boil me in pudding or drive a stake of holly through my heart (which grew three sizes that day!) hear me out!
I have never done exterior lights on my house. Oh certainly in my dorm windows and along the walls of my cubicle at work I did chasing colored lights, but as an adult with my own home...nada.
Now that I have two daughters and we moved into a new house this year, we decided it was the time, and I must admit, I like the way they look.
Of course, my Christmas tree has strings of colored lights that blink. I almost feel a bit snobbish there too because this is the first year that they ALL blink! In the past there was usually at least one strand that was solid.
I am proud to say that my neighbors across the street have the old fashioned, grandma bulb outdoor colored lights. However, the outside of the houses (and bushes) of other homes on the street are solid color - white and one that is blue.
If everyone else in the neighborhood did solid white, I promise I would have put up colored lights to keep it alive.
Can I make it up if I promise to put a hard plastic nativity scene in my front yard with another plastic snowman, reindeer, or Santa next to the stable or wise men?
