I was cheated by A Dis person!

I can not believe this. BlondeKaty I expect to cheat but a Dis person? Someone that hangs out will all of us?

She is Flowergal from Australia. That is her Dis name and her VMK name.

She make a post 9-7 offering 20+ crowns for teleportation. I said I would trade. We arranged to meet and she said that she wanted to trade 10 crowns and get the teleportation and then trade the other 10. Since only 15 items will fit in a trade window I agreed. I trusted her. She was in a room with some of our nicest and most honest Dis people and acted like she was friends with them. She probably is.

Long story short we did the first half of the trade. I should have seen it she started to offer me everything except crowns. I got mismatched princess stuff, a lot of pairs of shoes and only two crowns. I expected the second part to start as soon as we were done with the first. She said that the crowns were on another account and it would take a while to get them. She never told me it would take this long.

That is right folks, I still do not have them. She is on line every night and either in a trade room or a Dis room. Watch out for her.

First it was her computer was slow, then she said she could not access a computer she needed, then she had to work. Yesterday she started to say that she did not owe me. I have e mail after e mail where she promised to finish the trade.

So tonight I found her and I had told her in e mail that the games were over she needed to fix this tonight or give me back the teleportation.

She promised 5 crowns tonight and 5 by the week end.

No crowns and she took me off of her friends list.

So this is the first Dis person that I know of to cheat. I am saddened by it and more annoyed at the amount of time that I wasted on this than her lack of honesty.

If anyone has her on their friends list I would love to know when she is on line and where she is.

So Flowergal can now be placed along with Blondkaty for being a cheat.

OMG that is terrible!! That is seriously why I do not trade ever!! I need the Hong Kong Disneyland Pin, but I will not trade for it, I will get someone else to do it.

I have seen Flowergal hanging around. I will mention this post to her when I see her next.

Wow, that stinks! You think you know someone....
I have a tendency to only trade with someone I've been friends with for a while. I was too trusting when I first started trading in VMK. Learned my lesson very early on. I am now the proud owner of some totally worthless pirate freebies from the Kellogg's game! (After trading away an orange Retro Rocket pin, of course..)
I really hope she comes clean with you. If nothing else, she should return the teleportation pin for the return of her miscellaneous useless items. It is only right.

On a sidenote-
Just today a player named AndrewMaster on VMK told me to trust him if I accepted a trade for his inferno -of course, without his offer in the trade box-for alot, I mean alot, of the HKDL specials (9000 credits worth). He said he knew me and that he was a DIS'er. Yeah right, sorry pal! Anyways, he apparently was trying to scam everyone in the emporium, so I reported him and he was booted. Not sure for how long though.

Anyways, all I am saying is trust your gut, if something smells fishy it probably is one big fat rotten tuna! So if you have the tiniest doubt in a trade, go with your gut and stop! If they are "virtual"ly true DIS friends they will understand!

I know looking at when I joined this site, I wouldn't trust myself! LOL

CapeCAD and I "know" her. Well, actually he knows her, I only know her because she follows him around sometimes, and used to dress exactly like me.

I well tell CapeCAD about this (he'll probably see this thread tonight anyway when he gets home), and hopefully this can be resolved.

I don't trade usually, either. I'd rather give stuff away than get stuck in a bad trade deal.

P.S. Just wanted to add: VMK has brought in a lot of new "DIS" people. Many of them have joined here simply because they've seen the rest of us with "DIS" in our signatures and wanted to be one of the crowd, so to speak. Just seeing DIS in a signature is no guarantee that they're a decent person. To them, it's like a secret handshake or something, and some are taking advantage of it.
HOWEVER, on the flip side of that, we have met a LOT of great new people who have joined the DIS because of VMK, and they ARE decent people!

Just be careful, everyone!! On the DIS here, you can check someone's profile and look back at all of their posts. For those of us who've been on here for a while, you can get a pretty clear picture of what someone's like. If they're so new that they don't have many posts, then that too is a picture in it's own way.

I am not saying all new DISers are this way we have some excellant "NEW" ones that are not here to scam, GBBlueShorts is just one she very graciously gave me a MasterGracey Grandfather Clock for the MULE HM room that Califgirl( another new comer)had given me earlier this week. Both of these DISers wanted nothing in return. Oh and let me not forget KingHusky who gave me a Cowboy shirt for my DS because with all the computer problems I had Sunday I could not get one and they were gone Monday.


I quess with new people who have yet to really prove themselves it is wise just to be a little more cautious.

I dislike trading for loads of reasons this being one. But that is for another post do not want to hijack this one.

Seriously though, I'm more likely to trade with those who have established
themselves here, being on the DIS longer, or being a vocal contribruting
poster. I have had some good trades with DIS people. I was able
to get my yellow princess dress that way.

It's so disappointing to see the lack of integrity by those who let us believe
they're part of the DIS community, only to crap on members later.

So sad. Lisa, I hope you don't get discouraged trading with us

I will admit to joining Dis because of VMK. I posted a post on VMK Forums asking about if there was other older players and got a PM inviting me here! I can't remember who sent that, but THANK YOU!! I am so glad to have found this board!! It has made VMK twice the fun it was before.

I'm so sorry this happened to you Lisa. I am very careful who I trade with. It used to be Dis'ers were a bit of an older crowd. We are now getting more kids (welcome all of you!) and so I trade with everyone (at first) as if they were eight years old. Many of the VMK Dis'ers have only come to the Dis since June, July or later. They are new here and may not be aware of the strong sense of community of this board.

BTW Mal, I have to laugh, I am not a DIS newcomer, I've been here since 1999, like you! It just took me a while to find VMK. (Now I'm an add duck.)

I should have said when I said "NEW" I mean DISers with low post counts.

Sometimes that can indicate that this DISer does not have or want the attachment to the board and boarders that comes along with loyalty but with everything there are exceptions to the rule as in your case and it could just mean they are not Chatty Cathys like me

Yes, I am the same way. Before VMK, I would mostly read the Canadian Board and the DVC board on DIS. I didn't have time for much more than that. Trying to wade into the Community Board seemed like a lot of work!

So, my post count is low, but I have been around DIS for a long time. I got my post count reset when they had the server issue in 1999, but was around before that. The first time I posted after that, I got a bunch of welcome to DIS posts from people that had been around less time than me!

When VMK first came out, I was spending a lot of time reading the "other website", but then found out that DIS had created a VMK board. At about the same time, the quality of posts on the "other website" dropped substantially, so now I spend 90% of my board time here and only 10% over there. It seems that now, some of the people that have brought down the quality over there have discovered the DIS board and are taking advantage of the community of trust over here.

I am sorry you got scammed AlwaysPrinces. I know how it feels (as I was the victim of a scam back in July - cost me my extra space suit). I know I feel better remembering that at least I am not a 9 year old who would be devastated by being scammed. I also hope that you are able to get some resolution (at least get teleportation back) by using other Dis players to keep an eye on this girl. She may eventually give in and say "it was all a mistake" to keep her player in the game. Good Luck!
