Does anyone know why my credit card would be charged $232.58 for making dining reservations? I was just checking my statement and noticed this charge for "WDW Dine" tickets. Is this something new? I've never been charged for ADRs before. Thank you!!:confused3

When I was booking for CRT, it said I would be charged right away unless I had a dining plan.

You didn't say what place you made the ADRs for, but I'm 99.99% sure it was for a high demand, fixed price character meal like CRT. These are all becoming pay-in-advance reservations.

If you provide a list of where you made reservations for, that would help us to know.

As far as I am aware, the following are locations that you must pay in advance for:
Hoop Dee Doo
CRT
Mickey's Backyard Barbeque
Ohana Dinner Show
Akershus
Fantasmic! Dining Package
Candlelight Processional Package

There may be additional seasonal packages that have to be prepaid as well and there may be additional locations that are now prepaid, I will have to let others weigh in on that.

The tomorrowland terrace dessert party is another ADR that gets charged in full to your card right away.

The Illuminations party you get charged in advance for too. The Fantasmic one you do NOT have to prepay

Do you get charged if you have a meal plan?

No, and if you made your reservations before adding the Dining plan you can call and have the charge reversed.

It all depends on what your ADRs are. Most places, such as the Plaza, Rainforest Cafe, etc., do not require pre-payment. But places with character meals, such as Cinderella's Royal Table, 'Ohana (Breakfast), Akershus, etc., require payment in advance.

You all quickly answered that! Yes, we had O'Hana, Askerhaus, and a couple others that are probably high demand. I had no idea my card would be charged right away! I've never had that happen in years past so it's good to know this is a newer thing. Thank you all for your help ;)

I did not have to prepay for. Akershus or the Fantasmic pkg.

CRT and dessert parties did require payment at time of booking.

(Crystal Palace H & Vine & Tusker weren't prepay either)

'Ohana and Akershus do not require pre-payment. Among the reservations that require full payment at the time the reservation is made are CRT, the 3 dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha Luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), the Wishes Dessert Party, the IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party and (I think) the Perfectly Princess Tea Party.

Akershus

CRT and the dinner shows do.

Even the breakfast character sessions? I could have sworn we pre-paid for Akershus in May '13...

I'm curious, what ADR's do require a full payment in advance? Cause I thought the Fantasmic! Dining Package did, but I know that's not the case.

Cinderella's Royal Table
Any dinner show (Hoop Dee Doo, the luau, the backyard BBQ)
Any dessert party (so far only 2, Wishes and Illuminations)
Special meals (i.e. the wine tasting dinner at Flying Fish)

That's all I can remember right now

Youch!! We've never done character meals, closest thing we've done is eating at the German place at Epcot. I would've choked seeing the charge before we were even close but it makes sense.

Like others have said, I believe the ONLY character meal that requires prepayment is CRT (breakfast, lunch, & dinner). And this is ONLY if you don't have a dining plan.

The 2 Dinner Shows, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, the Dessert Parties, & "special" meals/events also require prepayment.

'Ohana & the other character meals don't require prepayment.

A credit card is required to hold your reservations - which will be charged $10/person for no-shows.
