I want to name my baby...Tiana

This is what I was going to say. Because you know that with a name like Disney every birthday, Christmas, graduation etc. the child will be given a Disney themed gift. It's almost like you are forcing YOUR love for Disney down your unborn child's throat. There are certainly better ways to celebrate your love for Disney without scarring your child for the rest of his life!

My daughter's name is Violet and she is literally surrounded by purple stuff. Especially as a newborn & baby, everything people got her was purple. Nametags at story time and anything color-related in preschool -- purple.

But it was something that DH & I considered when naming her and decided that, if she was anything like her parents, she'd like what color she wanted to like and if she got irritated with people getting her purple stuff, she'd tell them that. Pity her poor first boyfriend that thinks he's being clever by bringing her violets instead of roses...

Her favorite color is yellow, btw.

I see a middle school future of boys wanting a Disney "thrill ride." Seriously, name your baby what you want, but be prepared for the consequences of choosing an odd name.

I would use the name but totally just jack up the spelling.

Dyzneey

Pronounced Disney. I would probably middle name the child Mortimer.

Try getting a date now for prom,Dyzneey Mortimer. jk. Name the kid what you want but know the kid will probably choose your nursing home and health insurance so at least be fair to her/him.

:rotfl: Best thing I've read all day!

I agree that Disney may cause your child too much angst when they're older. I also suggest that you please give them a normally spelled name. My name is Brook, a name used mainly for girls but also for boys. My parents chose the masculine way to spell it, so when I turned 18 I started receiving letters from the military reminding me to register. :lmao: I had to actually go the secretary of state to prove to them that I was a girl, not a boy! I guessed they overlooked the fact that I have a very girly middle name!

Very insightful thank you. i pray your DD first boyfriend buys her yellow roses at that

mannnnnnn, some of you are really givin my wife a hard time about this name, why dont cut her some slack, shes trying to be diffrent....hell, i hated my name when I was little, and i got teased all the time, hell people still cant pronounce my name rite

And FYI..her name will be spelled Disnee......all rude comments, keep it to yaself please.....

Is it rude to say that if you name your daughter that I think spelling it differently ruins it? JMO

My dd (18) is not a Disney fan. :( She would not be happy if I had named her Disney for many reasons but the number one reason would be because she just doesn't love the place, never has. I know, I know...what did I do wrong?? ;)

Truthfully...I find the name Disnee a better sounding name for a little girl than some of the names mentioned in this thread. Really.

*GASP!* I have one, too! It's sick and horrifying.

Hey there... I want to name my baby Disney... YES I said Disney... What do you think?

I have only read your post - and a couple following - but if my cousin can name her daughter Nittany (which, by the way, I think is totally ridiculous), I guess you can name your child anything you would like!

Good luck!!

HA HA I LOVE IT!!! Dyzneey...oh wow!!! i do agree that I am G.H.E.T.T.O but not that ghetto =) ... but about the nursing home:rotfl2: dang... I better have a will and a Power of attorney/ Probate attorney ready in case... thanks for the laugh

Point well taken. Thank you

you are too cute... I am losing calories just giggling about this one!!! YENSID!!!

Just wanted to say, "Kudos" to you for taking the high road and keeping your positive attitude despite some of the negativity you've received.

If we lived in a perfect world without judgment, I think Disney is an adorable name but, we don't, and I fear she would not be taken seriously in the professional world; however, I would DEFINITELY go for it as a middle name or name a pet Disney. I myself have considered the name for future pets. Best of luck to you in deciding and, again, I love your upbeat attitude--very refreshing!

I think someone on these boards should name their son Walt Disney (last name)! Or has someone already done that.

Thank you Meliss.... I am trying... and in all truth fullness they were all insightful and most of the comments were said with alot of genuine concern for a childs well being.

Honestly though, Elias would be a nice name or you can do "Lillian" after Walt Disney's wife?

I knew an old man (we're talking a man in his late 80's) with the first name Disney. He was a sweetheart!

Having said that, I don't know that I'D choose that name for my daughter, but I've also heard much worse. I think that it would be a totally appropriate middle name, though. :goodvibes

I think this is a joke given the OP's low post count. Probably a 2nd user ID. Maybe just bored so time to :stir:? 41 posts in 2 years and the OP posts this?? How many people here were born yesterday? OK, don't answer that! :lmao:

I love the name Disney for a little girl. I think its adorable. I direct a child development center so I hear A LOT of names. Some are cute - some are a bit weird in the spelling and some are just strange. As for her not being taken seriously or professionally; I think that would be untrue. In my experience women with unusual names are easier to remember and can build a persona because people are intrigued by them simply because their name is unique. I've seen this happen time and time again.

I myself work at a courthouse and file name changes daily and see the craziest names ever. I hope to think that I would know the limit but then again i live in the Los angeles area... you see every name in the world over here. I thank you for this pleasant information. Puts a smile on my face
