I want to name my baby...Tiana

Say if you name the kid Disney, how would you feel(i.e.Disappointed,etc) if the kid got to a certain age in school and wanted to go by another name?

I would be hurt of course. :( but after a heart to heart if she felt strongly about it then on with a name change we go...

I would use the name but totally just jack up the spelling.

Dyzneey

Pronounced Disney. I would probably middle name the child Mortimer.

Try getting a date now for prom,Dyzneey Mortimer. jk. Name the kid what you want but know the kid will probably choose your nursing home and health insurance so at least be fair to her/him.

I think it is a cracking good name.

It is just someone's last name, after all.

HA HA I LOVE IT!!! Dyzneey...oh wow!!! i do agree that I am G.H.E.T.T.O but not that ghetto =) ... but about the nursing home:rotfl2: dang... I better have a will and a Power of attorney/ Probate attorney ready in case... thanks for the laugh

You're choosing the name for selfish reasons. You're choosing the name for your satisfaction, not for your child's life.

Anything you can do to try to protect your kid from mockery I think you would want to do. Don't name your child Disney. perhaps another Disney name, like Jasmine, Ariel, or Aurora...

Just my 2 cents. Oh and DH piped in too

As a serious name enthusiast, I will offer my long-winded, polite opinion. I also gave my own children names that (while being "real names") are not anywhere near the popularity levels of things like Aidan or Isabella. I do get weird looks and questions sometimes.

I absolutely do not think it's crazy to want to name a baby Disney. I definitely want my children's names to inspire warm feelings in me every time I say it. I can understand Disney being on a WDW enthusiast's list!

You know there's a but, right? I would not straight out name my child Disney. Some people can carry cutesy names (and it is cutesy, everyone's first thought will be a mouse) even into old age, but many can't. I wouldn't want to risk my child being one of the ones who can't, because it could be terrible for them.

I would choose a name that is Disney-related but doesn't shout it from the rooftops. What are your favorite things about Disney? Your favorite movie, character, resort, attraction, restaurant, etc? What gives you the best feeling when you're at Disney?

Even something like Aurora or Ariel wouldn't be so in-your-face. Or if your significant other professed their undying love at Tony's, Tony (or Anthony, called Tony) is a fine name for a boy. Elias, Walt Disney's middle name, is shooting up the popularity charts and I hear a lot of people say they like it. But no one would say "Oh, like Walter Elias Disney?" (And if they did, you'd have found a fellow Disney-phile!) Something that speaks to you, but doesn't speak to others quite as much as Disney would.

And if all else fails ... I would have no objection to Disney being in the middle spot. If they hate it, they can leave it off things entirely or just put the initial. I know kids with middle names like Danger, Napoleon, Lucky, and Dream. When I found out, I just thought, "How cute/odd/original" and went on calling them by their first name like I had before. They won't be scarred for life.

First off, Rumer and Hazel are actual names. Apple, yeah, that's a head scratcher.

But think of all the oddball celebrity names you know. Are any of them brand names? Is there a baby Coca-Cola? Nike? Cinnabon? Why on earth would you want to give your baby a brand name? Are you trying to finagle a night in the castle suite?

Please. Use your head.

Please don't do this to your innocent little baby. Life is hard enough without being saddled with an unusual name. Sincerely, an unusual nameholder.

I guess I'm the only one... I think it's adorable (for a girl only). Girls can get away w/ unusual names more than boys. And it's easy to pronounce.

Another thought... you could give your child the middle name Disney (again, only for a girl).

=) 1 vote added to the yay ballot!! :goodvibes

Any time I see the name Disney anywhere i get butterflies. A rush of happy endorphins take over my body  I still havent ruled out any Disney character names but the name Disney just makes me happy.

Too many parents today don't realize that as a parent, the question that should be asked is not "Does this make me happy?" but "Is this what is best for my child?"

I personally don't have a problem with choosing an unusual name for your child. However, just be aware, if you choose to name your child Disney, and they hate it, you have a very good chance of having a child that rebells against anything Disney. I would really hate it if I could never go back to Disney World because it upset my child so much. After all, it is supposed to be the happiest place on earth. Best of luck!:)

I SERIOUSLY LOVE THIS. I love the Tony's idea
I wish there were "LIKE" boxes to press when i read beautiful comments... this would get like 8 thousand votes. -

My mother once confessed to me that she almost named me Freedom. I seriously would have never forgiven her for it! :headache: Thankfully, my dad talked her out of it at the last minute. I still haven't gotten over the fact that she *almost* and *wanted to* do that to me! :rotfl:

Do you like pets? Your next pet could take on the Disney name instead... I wouldn't hate that idea.

I think its cure for a girl, but if you have a boy I'd go with Yensid.

I agree that Disney could be a good middle name.

This is what I was going to say. Because you know that with a name like Disney every birthday, Christmas, graduation etc. the child will be given a Disney themed gift. It's almost like you are forcing YOUR love for Disney down your unborn child's throat. There are certainly better ways to celebrate your love for Disney without scarring your child for the rest of his life!
