I want to name my baby...Tiana

I think it is a lovely name for a girl, I really do. Maybe use it as a middle name though and take another Disney character as her first name. Maybe Lillian? (for Walts wife). Her full name could be Lillian Disney X. And you could always call her Disney as long as she liked it.

Good luck in your journey to become parents:). It does sometimes take some time for things to come together just right, so don't worry too much about it taking some time to happen. It took me awhile too, but I am the mother of a wonderful 16 yr old:cloud9:.

You mentioned Disney as a middle name, and as a middle name it would be up to the child to decide how they want to present it. My DB was nicknamed Chip when he was young, and that is his family name, but his school friends and beyond all know him by his given name, it was his choice. You could call her Disney in the family, but by her given name at school. Later on, if she wants to be known by her middle name, she can decide to do that.

Only thing is, if you have other children...might they feel slighted since they don't have the "favored" name? Names with a Disney theme might work as you can extend it to cover more than one child.

Children can be cruel, and usually the first thing they start with is the name as that is the easiest. Children desperately want to fit in, and it starts early. I worked in preschool and elementary school for years, and unusual names can be difficult for a child to deal with.

Take care.

I think it would be a fine middle name -- for either a boy or a girl.

And, that way, if they become a doctor or supreme court justice or whatever, they could just list their middle initial as "D." :)

I think Disney would be a great name for a boy or a girl. I think Dizzy is a cute nickname, too.

If your little Disser ;) grows up to be a judge, s/he will join the ranks of Kenesaw Mountain Landis, an (in)famous jurist who was named after a geographical location where his father was injured in battle. If I were a kid, I'd rather be named after someone/someplace who makes my parents happy!

For the record, I was named after my mother, who was named after her grandfather. We both carry our extremely masculine name proudly and understand that people who tease nastily aren't worth the attention they're trying to attract. OP - you'll just have to make sure your child has the confidence to carry the name and the best way to do that is to instill in him or her a love of Disney. :goodvibes

I'm not crazy about the name Disney for a kid. For a dog, sure, but for a middle school student -ug. Of course, I'm not one to talk since my kid has a very uncommon name. Well, it’s uncommon in America, but in her birth country it is very common. Still, it is her name and she loves it. The only thing that annoys her is that people mispronounce it a lot. It’s actually super easy to pronounce, but people make it harder than it really is. She’s learned to say, “The Y is silent.”

Really, should we worry at all about what will happen when our kids are applying for college or for a job when the people they will be competing against will be named D’Asia and Italy and Mariyeah?

OP, I’m guessing your boy name is Orlando. ;)

Hello all, I have read alot of you guys posts, and some of you make good points, funny ones, sarcastic ones. I know all of you are entitled to your opinion, as the DH of clue, I can respect everyone's input.

Just to clarify, Disney, or Disnee, or however we decide to spell it, WILL BE HER MIDDLE NAME, NOT HER FIRST, we've come up with a few names, one of them being disney related, we came up with Tianna, from the Princess and the Frog, also, just to clarify, going with a disney name was not my idea, but im supporting my DW, because I know how much she loves Disney. We appreciate all the support with the idea, I see that this thread has alot of attention, and we love it. Have a nice day folks. ALWAYS BELIEVE!!!!
