I want my Free Turkey!

First the eliminated Free Hams at Easter, now they elimated the Free Turkeys!

My grocery store that I shopped at for years gave a free turkey at Thanksgiving if you spent $1500 in 6 weeks before Thanksgiving. Nope, just saw my Piggly Wiggly flyer and it has some dumb promotion, but no free turkey. I'm guessing the price of the turkey has gotten so high, the store can't afford to do it anymore. (anyone else remember when the price was about .35 a lb). Now you are lucky you can buy one for 1.00 a pound at thanksgiving.

hey come on to Maine........we get cheap turkeys around here.....sometimes the big stores have a TURKEY WAR......who can sell it for the least ......we have seen 39 cents a lb....

I've gotten two coupons so far! I just have to spend over $100.00 at one time (very easy for me!) and I get one. I had 4 last year. I give them to a friend who distributes them to needy families.

1500 in six weeks????I would never get a turkey LOL!! Our stores around here give you a coupon for a free turkey if you spend 75.00 in one visit...I have 3 free turkey coupons so far. I am giving them all to the adopt a family thing since I don't cook on Thanksgiving..its a holiday which mean NO COOKING FOR ME!! We go out and someone else serves ME!

Our local food store is running a promotion for free turkeys or 10% off a future order. For the free turkey you have to buy $250 worth of groceries over so many weeks and for the 10% you have to buy $450 worth of groceries. If you do not want or need the turkey you have the option to donate your free turkey to the local food bank. I like to get my 10% off coupon and use it on a really big grocery order!

Well - I am mad, raise the prices and quit giving the perks. Well - they do have the Fuel Perks program now - too bad that the nearest gas station is 25 miles from here.

They still do the free turkeys around here but I never get it. They are offbrand. I like Shadybrook Farms or Butterball.
