I tried to find this - Is there an AP discount for late June?

Is there any other use for the 1 day ticket (when you're an AP holder) other than purchasing another AP? I don't think we'll be renewing our AP, however, it would be nice if we could use the 1 day ticket for a 1 day Water Parks or DisneyQuest visit (not a WP/DQ AP).

It is my understanding that you have to use it for a major theme park admission. However, I've heard one or two people say they've gotten away with using it at a minor park. However, economically, this isn't a good move. That ticket is worth way more than a minor park ticket.

It will not expire until 14 days after first use. You may give it to someone else or use it to upgrade to any other ticket too--not just APs.

To get the biggest discount (~$105 v. ~$9.50), upgrade to a 9 or 10 day ticket with no expiration. Use the ticket and then upgrade at an AP.

Thanks, rt2dz!

I have read this whole thread but I guess I still do not get the upgrading to ap. If I buy a 10 day non expiry at the 4/3 rate of 359.97 . I go into the park and then to guest reations and they will give me the full 10 day value even though i have used it once of 465.41??? Can this be true??? Thanks for any help

Yes. Using a ticket at least once brings the said ticket up to full gate value. If you do not use the ticket first, it is worth only what you paid for it. This is for any type of upgrade, not just APs. Upgrades are based on cost/value of ticket, not type of ticket (options). You must always be moving up in price.

I've been told by a reliable source (Cheshire Figment) that you can use the one day base ticket towards the purchase of a water park/disney quest AP. I would think you could then also use it towards a one day admission to a water park, though you would lose money on that deal. If you don't care about the loss, I'd give it a try. But keep in mind that a water parks only annual pass is only around $100, so you could take the one day pass and, for only ~$25, upgrade it to a water park annual pass. I think Disney Quest AP's are about the same, if you'd rather do that.

I think I might have messed up. When I booked the 4/3 deal I got 10-day non-expiring park hoppers (value $487 ?). Can I "upgrade" to annual passes? I believe AP's only cost $469 which is obviously not an upgrade if that is the case. But can I just trade in for AP's?

I don’t have the costs on hand. As long as the tickets are valued below the cost of an AP with the park hopping option, you may still upgrade them. I just don’t add the hopper because there is no discount on a hopper. If the cost is more than an AP, sorry, but no, they won’t just give you an AP. You’re not necessarily out money, just don’t use them first and forego the discount. Or call and have them remove the hopper option. At most, it will cost you $50 if you are under the 45 day mark, but in the long run you’ll save more. It costs $50 on every each ticket to add the hopping option.

ETA: Adult MYW 10 day PH with No expiration is $518.66. Adult AP is $499.49. Your over by $19.17. You need to remove the hopper option. Upgrades are based on price and not ticket type.

Thank you! I haven't paid in full yet so I'll see about rebooking with just 10-day non-expiring tickets.

No need to rebook. You just tell them you need to change the tickets. Everything else will stay the same.

So...I think I've got this:
I'm calling Monday to change my reservation to the 4/3 deal. I was going to purchase an 8 day MYW with Hopper and Water Parks. It sounds like I need to buy a 10 day base with no expiration, use it on day 1, and upgrade to an AP. Is this right?
The question I have at this point is this:
What do I do with regards to the Dining Plan? Will the Dining Plan part of the package be good to go as is? Is it a better option to forgo the Dining Plan and use the AP discount?
I just need a little hand-holding before I move forward.
Thanks for any help!:)

The dining plan doesn't work well with my family. We buy the Tables in Wonderland card, save 20% off everything we eat and only what we eat. It's a much better deal. We use the AP discount at places, like Yak & Yeti, that don't take the TiW card. I sent you a PM on how to figure out if it works for you or not.

However, if you want the dining plan, upgrading your ticket will not affect your credits. However, have hotel concierge put your ticket on a separate admission media so that your credits aren't *temporarily* lost until you get back to your hotel. Sometimes that can happen and it's just better to skip the inconvenience if possible.

Thanks for the info! That's definitely something to consider. I couldn't respond to the PM because I don't have enough posts. (A little frustrating. I had sig issues and recently had to do a little swapping.) I will check out the link though.
Thanks also for sharing your expertise. I know everyone here appreciates it.

I'm bumping this up because I have a question. I think I can do this, but I want to be sure. We are going in April with the 7/4 deal. After reading this thread, I think I'm going to upgrade to 9 day no exp. tickets, but I don't want to use them on this trip bacause we can get the Armed Forces tickets. We are going again in June (room only), will I then be able to upgrade the 9 day no exp to APs so we can go again in June 2010 before they expire? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me!!

Yes, you can save the tickets for your next trip. Just don't use it in a turnstile. I did the same thing. I purchased tickets last April on a package, did not use them until August and then upgrade it to an AP. Make sure that use upgrade the ticket after you use it at least once because then you will be credited the full gate price and not what you paid thru your package (Which is much less) Hope this helps, have a nice trip!
