I tried to find this - Is there an AP discount for late June?

Help me out here on the upgrade please. I have an AP that expires in Sept. DS need to get a new AP.

Can I take my base ticket and apply the cost to DS AP? Do we need to use the tickets first?

I am thinking about the 4/3 deal. Oh lord talk me out of it please.

Yes, you can use the base ticket to upgrade to an AP. Is it a one day ticket?
I won't talk you into it if you weren't planning to go, but if you are, it's a terrific discount.

I'm new to this thread. I'm glad I found this thread. A lot of information to learn, thanks. :)

Have a nice day. :)

Yes, tickets are fully transferable until used. Any MYW ticket may be upgraded until 14 days after first use. If you have a discounted ticket--prior to a price increase, purchased from a third party discount broker, or free items (4/3 deal) on it--use it first. You do not *have* to use it, but it will bring the value of the ticket up to full gate value. Otherwise you only get what Disney sold it for (less than what you purchased it for if from a discount broker).

Thank you for explaining this. Your knowledge has been so helpful on this thread!:mickeybar

I have upgraded regular tickets before, but only read the procedures for APs. I know when we traded in our AP vouchers (bought at the Disney Store) for APs at the Guest Services window, we adults needed to show our driver's licenses. So I'm assuming when we upgrade our MYW tickets to APs everyone in the party needs to be present, correct?

Also, I have read that if you have the Water Parks Option on your MYW tickets and want to upgrade to APs, you can only upgrade to the Premium AP, not the regular one. Is this correct?

Dumb question here, but I'm really confused :confused3 . . .

What are the advantages of upgrading to an A/P? Would it have to be done for every member in your party or just one person? Thanks!

Only if you've used one or more the Water Parks or Disney Quest admissions. If you've never actually used the ticket to enter either one of the water parks or Disney Quest, you can upgrade to a regular AP, getting the full value of the WP option towards your regular AP.

There are no dumb questions--we're all confused sometimes!

The advantages of upgrading to an AP are numerous, IF you plan on more than one trip totalling more than 10 days in a 366 day period. The difference between a 10 day non-expiring ticket and an annual pass is ~$35 for adults and ~$12 for kids. If you planned on adding parkhopping at $50 a ticket, the annual pass is cheaper, and give you unlimited admission for a year.

Once you have the annual pass, you can get discounts on dining, shopping, recreation, resort rooms, free parking at the parks, etc, making your savings even greater!

And each person in your party is free to do whatever they wish with their tickets--not everyone has to upgrade to the same ticket. Some families just purchase one AP for the group, because one is all you need to take advantage of most of the perks.

HTH!

If you have Water Park option on your ticket and have used them, you must upgrade to a PAP. If you have not used them, you may upgrade to an AP or a PAP. Now, as far as getting a PAP, there are things to consider.

Are you going to just the water parks, just Disney Quest or both? If you will do both, how often? You do get a discount at the gate on both Disney quest and the water parks with an AP. But, I think (it’s been awhile since I did the math) if you will visit the water parks and/or Disney Quest 4 (maybe 5) or less times, it’s better to buy individual tickets and get an AP. If one or the other (some people don’t like to swim and others aren’t interested in Disney Quest) and you will visit more than four times, it is less expensive to purchase a regular AP for the major theme parks and a separate AP just for Disney Quest or the Water Parks.

As far as everyone being present, when I upgrade tickets last October, they asked for DH’s ID, but did not require him to be there (and he wasn’t—he was outside guest relations with the kids). I don’t know if that was just the CM (my oldest was with me, to go get him if necessary) or standard. The AP was tied to his information, so no one but him could use it, and I highly doubt Disney is going to care if you were to buy yourself more than one AP. It’s only money in their pocket. I would err on the side of caution though.

My advantage was that we didn't want the dining plan, but were going to do a lot of signature dining and adult beverages. Upgrading to an AP allowed me to buy the Tables in Wonderland which gives you 20% off table service restaurants and alcohol there. I just did the math, and even if I don't go back again, I saved more on food and drink than the upgrade and the TiW cost.

I do recall that there was an AP discount on the water parks, but so far I've never "paid" for water parks, just had pluses on old passes. We've only been to DQ twice. It was just ok for us, my kids aren't huge gamers. We never stay all day at the water parks and would not go enough to make a PAP worth it. It took us years to go through the pluses we had, just ran out last year. Now if I lived closer, it would be a different story...

I asked about all guests being present because there is a possibility that my dh may have to join us later on the trip, not sure this far our how busy he'll be at work. I was just wondering if I could upgrade his pass for him.

I'm still considering all my options and really appreciate all your helpful info. Thanks again!pixiedust:

I noticed that, too! When I add up the price for our (3A/1C) family, 4 Premium Annual Passes are like $20 more than 4 regular Annual Passes + 4 Water Park/Disney Quest Annual Passes. Huh? The only thing I can figure is that the PAP used to be a better deal because it included Pleasure Island, which is no more. Either that, or the admission to the Wide World of Sports, which appears to now be included with the PAP's, makes up the difference.

I won't lose any sleep over it, but we will be buying 2 separate AP's for the theme parks and the WP/DQ.

Good to know--I think I'll send dh and the kids on Spaceship Earth while I handle the business end of things. Less distractions=less chance of a mix up! Speaking of which--thanks for the PM! It will help when I go to make the upgrades.

My goodness!! Between the 40% pin, the AP 44%, and the 4/3 deal...I can't committ!
The best I see is SW package with airfare but the prices keep shifting! If I book through them I wonder if I get a DING, do I get credit? I'll have to call in the am!

what do you do to get the one ticket off of your vacation package, whenyou have an AP

I think what you are asking is how to remove the ticket from your KTTW card. If so, you just go over to your resort's concierge (near the check-in desk) and ask to have your admission put on a separate ticket media. It should just take a couple of minutes.

Thunderbird1--

I've got a question for you. You do a lot of the same math I do and come to the same conclusions. I went ahead and ran the numbers on another thread for days 8 & 9. I just can't figure out how day 9 is working out so close to day ten. I've checked and checked what I'm doing and always come to the same conclusion. Either I'm doing something wrong altogether, or I just can't figure out what it is that makes it come out that way. It's driving me nuts. Can you take a look and tell me what you think? If not, I'm just going to have to go bug Cheshire Figment. :rotfl2:

It's post #4 at http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2063472

If this is correct, then it looks like 9 days is your most cost effective move--lowest cash outlay with the biggest savings.

And I don't use that ticket until I am ready to renew my AP?

Yup. Do use it once before the actual renewal though (day of), if you acquired your ticket at a discount or prices go up from the time you purchased your ticket (booked your package) and you renew your AP.

SW just sent me an email with that Disney "deal", and all it is, is the 4/3 deal with airfair. Same price as purchasing it all separate, EXCEPT you have no ticket flexibility. You will automatically, with no way to change it, get length of stay tickets with the hopper option. That may or may not be what you want. It seems you might have tigher cancellation terms also; I didn't really investigate that really well though.

As far as the other three go, run numbers on all three for a final cost. The AP rate has rack rates for Friday and Saturday nights, which are at a higher cost anyhow, so keep that in mind.

thanks. I hope I remember this when Dec. comes!
