Ok so I really wanted to make a paperpiecing of the Liberty Bell for the MK swap.* So after much research I found out that if I could find a JPEG of the Liberty Bell, I could download a free program called Inkshare and convert it to an SVG file which can be read by Sure Cuts A Lot and then cut it on my Cricut.*
Well, after spending 4 hours downloading Inkshare (first I downloaded for the wrong operating system
) I couldn't get the program to run because I needed some utility called X11 (and I couldn't figure out how to get it). Today I went to the Apple store (I have a Macbook) to ask them about that and three salespersons later they told me it was something that is optionally installed when you do the initial installation of your operating system. So I found my installation disks and tried to just install the X11 utility.
Bottom line is I got X11 and was able to make my paperpiecing, but I lost a bunch of files needed to make some important applications run (like photoshop).
Now I could have just printed the JPEG on the computer and cut it all out, but where's the fun in that
I'll be spending tomorrow trying to rebuild my computer!
Here's the finished product:
