I, too, had a long conversation with a supervisor....

think of how much business you'd get if you offered ONE thing at 40% off... how much more would people buy? I was only looking at one room when I was booking for april.. now i booked 2 rooms. that means more people in the parks, more stuff sold... for that 200$ they are loosing on the hotel they'll make up 2 times over with everything else. Tickets, food, water (that alone will be about 200 for the week)

If I owned a business, I would be pretty upset if everybody got my product for 40% off when they weren't supposed to, even if that meant a buttload of people were purchasing the product.

Discounts @ hotels (except for bugs like BW episode) have set number of rooms set aside for those discount codes (AP, AAA, FL, PIN, etc). Once they're sold out, no more discounted rooms.

Disney is not losing money on this. They're filling up rooms in advance so they may not need to offer other drastic discounts, like free dining. They are pocketing lots of dough in advance to earn interest sitting in their bank accounts rather than ours. They're creating a sense of urgency so people rush to book vacations months in advance. They're tempting people to upgrade to resorts we may not otherwise would book, get us hooked, and then watch us come back year after year without pincodes.

Disney is not stupid. Those of us who upgraded are the idiots.

I do own a business. I offer discounts all the time to people based on different criteria. The reason for these discounts is highly variable. I may need a large influx of cash for a large business purchase. I may want to build brand loyalty. I may want to reward loyal customers. I may want to offer a loss leader to get higher prices on something else. My reasons vary widely, as I am sure Disney's reasons do, and I am also quite sure none of us know for sure what those reasons truly are.

Will Disney revoke the rates? Who knows. Maybe. Your guess is as good as mine, since probably the real reason for the discount in the first place will be the ultimate guiding reason when deciding to revoke or not. For instance, if the reason the discount was offered was mainly to fill rooms during a slow time - well, I would say they have done that. Revoking would be counterproductive. If the reason was to get guests who would most likely not be coming back to Disney to reserve pricey packages, maybe they will revoke the rates.

However, until they actually do something (and not by simply placating people who are calling in constantly - on BOTH sides of the debate), no-one will know for sure.

Hope that makes sense.

Let me just say that when I booked my vacation I TOLD the CM I got the code off a message board and it was not a problem.
I called numerous times and switched days back and forth and was never questioned.
Finally after the umpteemth call, I got someone who challenged me and said I should never have received the discount. I told them my side of the story, ranted about how unfair it was, that they were trying to take it away after knowing the truth and NEVER questioning me and took my money. The CM on the phone gave me the whole so sad too bad (kind of rudely I might add) and quoted me a NEW(higher) price. I then said I wanted to talk to someone else like a supervisor and after being put on hold for like 15 minutes she came back on and said they would honor it "this time" per guest services. I then went on to purchase airfare through them so if they try to challenge me again I am going to be sooooo upset.
There... that's my story.

Someone on another thread just posted that hers does say dining.

Willyou plese post a link to or the title of the thread where this is posted - I have never heard of the online system showing the dining. It never has for any of my reservations.

Someone on another thread just posted that hers does say dining. Mine doesn't, when I noticed last week I called and they assured me I have dining. But it doesn't make sense that some would say it and others wouldn't. What is wrong with Disney's computer system.

When I booked my original reservation, I booked online with the dining package. It did show the dining package on the online ressie. Now that we had to cancel that one and rebook to use the code it doesn't show the dining plan on the online ressie. However, I called to confirm and it is correct on their screen. I think it has something to do with the way CRO processes the info versus straight off their website. HTH

I have 2 reservations booked right now: 1 for May without the code and 1 for August with the code.

The one for May DOES show the dining plan online.
The one for August DOES NOT show the dining plan online.

I can't figure out why one does and one doesn't, but I am relieved to hear that others who booked using the code are having the same issue and being told the dining shows up in the computer when they call.

You have to wonder sometimes just who these supervisors are. :confused3

Do they sit around and when the phone rings and someone wants to speak to the "Supevisor" do they pull a name out of the hat and go, "OK, your time to face the angry masses".

I hope you all get to keep your deals but it is totally incorrect that they will honor it because you have a confirmation. I have written confirmation that were paid in full. I also have 5 pounds of Disboard posts that Disney sent to the Florida Atty General after they added thousands of dollars onto our reservatons because they made a glitch and insisted we knew it was a glitch..(these boards)

This is absolutely not the same thing. You guys were paying nothing for those rooms and yes you all knew it was a glitch. NO COMPARISON BETWEEN THE SITUATIONS.

Congratulations to you all who got the deal. The CM I spoke to was more then willing to permit the use of the code but my dates were not included. 08/15 to 08/19 CSR. I probably should have called back just in case.
