I Told You Driving Was Bad For Your Health! *2/2* NEW TRIP REPORT LINK P102

I have brochures about Savannah because I was going to travel there, but Disney keeps beckoning me!

I believe the plant you were asking about is rhubarb. It makes a nice ornamental plant because of its color.

Oh my gosh that church is gorgeous!

You guys had such a long, nice day :thumbsup2

That plant is either Rainbow Chard or Rhubarb, I think

Wow! That church is so beautiful. And it looks a lot like the churches we have over here. :goodvibes

Love the parks and lush flowers, and the huge rosemary bushes. :thumbsup2

And the lighthouse pictures are awesome. I can never see enough of those.

As for the plant ........ I am leaning more towards the chard, but it could be young rhubarb as well.

What a church! The detail in there is really impressive!

Tybee island looks so nice, love the lighthouse pics!
Good timing on getting back to your car before the rain hit again. All in all sounds like another really nice day!

I hear Ya Doris. It's hard to give up Disney, isn't it? I think you need a longer trip so you can venture up the coast to Savannah. I think you would love it!

I believe the plant you were asking about is rhubarb. It makes a nice ornamental plant because of its color.

Thanks Doris! I knew you would know what it is. It's pretty cool, but I never see it up in these parts.

Oh my gosh that church is gorgeous!

Isn't it? It was absolutely stunning inside. I forgot to mention that it was remodeled on the inside about 10 years ago. They did an amazing job.

You guys had such a long, nice day :thumbsup2

It really was a very fun day!

That plant is either Rainbow Chard or Rhubarb, I think

Two votes for Rhubarb, one for Rainbow Chard. Thank you. I never see that plant up here, so its pretty unique.

Wow! That church is so beautiful. And it looks a lot like the churches we have over here. :goodvibes

I know impressive churches are part of your every day life. They are a lot fewer of them here. This church was incredibly beautiful and had undergone a renovation in 2000. The work was impeccable.

Love the parks and lush flowers, and the huge rosemary bushes. :thumbsup2

It was so nice to see those lovely gardens in early April. It really made spring feel so alive!

And the lighthouse pictures are awesome. I can never see enough of those.

That was a cool light house. I'm disappointed we didn't get a chance to climb it, but I did get to do a lighthouse on my WDW trip, so stay tuned for that.

As for the plant ........ I am leaning more towards the chard, but it could be young rhubarb as well.

2 for chard 2 for rhubarb. Guess I better do a little investigating. Thanks for setting me on the right track.

What a church! The detail in there is really impressive!

It was amazing detail. Everywhere I looked was full of detail. It was just hard to take it all in. They just don't build churches like that anymore.

Tybee island looks so nice, love the lighthouse pics!

Tybee was a cool little island and I'm glad we got a chance to see it even though our visit was cut short by the weather. We totally made it to the car just in time. I was worried, because obviously I had my camera with me and it didn't need a bath.

Both Savannah and Tybee look so pretty and quaint with so many interesting sights! Remind me, how long a drive was it from HHI? I need more points if I am going to explore all these DVC resorts properly!

Gorgeous photos! We just finished our 1st trip to HHI and did not venture off the island but we can't wait to go back and explore more.

So I am WAY behind on your TR....again....I know you are very surprised. :rotfl2: I promise to get better!!!

I am going back to read; today is a pretty quiet day until later this afternoon, so I am going to catch up on my friends and their TRs! I am looking very forward to reading about HHI as I would LOVE to stay there someday.

Take care, MEK, and have a great day!!

OK, so I did some speed reading and now I am all caught up! :thumbsup2

* Congrats on your new job! I hope the transition is going well.

* I'm so glad Denny is feeling better. And good for you for insisting on those tests. :thumbsup2 A person really does have to be their own advocate for their health.

* HHI looks just GORGEOUS. I have to put that on my list of "must visit".

* As always, your pictures are fantastic. Made me feel like I took a little morning vacation!:)

* Savannah looks amazing - another place I would love to visit. And your lunch looked AMAZING - those shrimp and grits, yum!! Now I am seriously hungry. :rotfl:

* That church in Savannah was just incredible - how gorgeous.

* It was nice you got over to Tybee - even if it did rain!

Way to work it around the rain.

Another nice beautiful day. Denny passed his "stress test" and you got a good bit of the area and even out to Tybee.

I am another one who thinks you can never take too many pictures. Great shots of all the neat things in the area.

Yes the Church looks amazing and so did the lighthouse.

Savannah is about a 45 minute drive. It's all back roads with no traffic and then *bam* your are there. Tybee was probably about 20 minutes or so from Savannah. Not a bad drive at all.

I hear ya on the points, but make sure you look for member rates, too. I know you always go to WDW in October, but I scored an amazing member rate there in October. It's really a cool place to visit. I definitely recommend it once if you've never been there.

Gorgeous photos! We just finished our 1st trip to HHI and did not venture off the island but we can't wait to go back and explore more.

So glad you like the pictures. Isn't HHI wonderful? I did see a lot more of the island the first time I went there. This time I really wanted to venture out. I just love the south. It's so cool. I can't wait to go back either. Next time I am doing a complete week. I think you really need that much time!

So I am WAY behind on your TR....again....I know you are very surprised. :rotfl2: I promise to get better!!!

:welcome: DWGal! Thanks for joining in! Great to have you here.

I am going back to read; today is a pretty quiet day until later this afternoon, so I am going to catch up on my friends and their TRs! I am looking very forward to reading about HHI as I would LOVE to stay there someday.

HHI is amazing. I really hope you get a chance to stay there. It's so cool there. Love it! I really appreciate you taking time to read and catch up.

Take care, MEK, and have a great day!!

Thanks! You too!

OK, so I did some speed reading and now I am all caught up! :thumbsup2

Darn girl! You DID do some speed reading. Way to go! :thumbsup2

* Congrats on your new job! I hope the transition is going well.

Thanks. It has been a transition. My old job was pretty laid back. This is definitely more intense and busier, but I do like it. I am still pretty exhausted when I get home at night and I hate that I won't have any vacation until Thursday, but what can I do? :confused3 I am happy to have a job taking care of the kind of patients I love.

* I'm so glad Denny is feeling better. And good for you for insisting on those tests. :thumbsup2 A person really does have to be their own advocate for their health.

I totally needed to advocate for him. I'm sure the ER doc thought she was doing the right thing. She was young. She'll learn from experience who to be suspicious of.

* HHI looks just GORGEOUS. I have to put that on my list of "must visit".

It's such an amazing place. I am so glad I visited it because its very different from the rest of the mid Atlantic coast.

* As always, your pictures are fantastic. Made me feel like I took a little morning vacation!:)

Yeah! Nothing like having a little scenic tour to go with your morning coffee!

* Savannah looks amazing - another place I would love to visit. And your lunch looked AMAZING - those shrimp and grits, yum!! Now I am seriously hungry. :rotfl:

OMG - that lunch was SO good. I think I could eat fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits every day. OK - maybe not everyday, but at least every other. :rotfl: Savannah was really cool. Love it there.

* That church in Savannah was just incredible - how gorgeous.

It really was a work of art. I can't imagine how many hours went into its painstaking restoration. Very impressive!

* It was nice you got over to Tybee - even if it did rain!

I'm glad we made it over to Tybee. It's very different from HHI but in a cool sort of way. I'm just bummed I lost my Tybee Island sticker. boo!

Way to work it around the rain.

:thumbsup2 I just got totally lucky!

Another nice beautiful day. Denny passed his "stress test" and you got a good bit of the area and even out to Tybee.

A good day on all accounts. I am glad I got to explore a little bit more of this very cool area. Tybee was interesting. I'd like to go back when its not raining.

I am another one who thinks you can never take too many pictures. Great shots of all the neat things in the area.

Thanks! I live by that adage, but my computer and my external hard drive may beg to differ (and my photobucket account, too.) :rotfl:

Yes the Church looks amazing and so did the lighthouse.

The church was spectacular and the lighthouse was pretty cool. There will be another lighthouse in this trip report, but not for awhile.

I'm a little confused, why no backpacks or purses in the lighthouse?

That poor stone lion looks so sad :(

Good timing with the rain!

Never too many pictures, my vote is in :)

I did forget to comment on the cathedral, the stations of the cross were totally awesome. I love old churches like that.

Okay, how can I ever get caught up around here if as soon as I think I get caught up, there are like four more updates to read??? :faint:

Love the rest of your tour of Savannah! Leave it to you, Mary Ellen, to make a cemetery look interesting! :rotfl: That church is indeed beautiful! Love all of the artistry inside! ::yes:: And such beautiful stained glass!

Great visit over to Tybee Island! I wonder how much that water level gauge showing the different Hurricane strengths has an impact on the locals when an actual hurricane is approaching??? :confused3

I'm guessing that all the walking isn't the only thing that deterred climbing to the top of the lighthouse! I'm sure this was another undertaking that you weren't anxious for Denny to attempt quite yet! :rolleyes2

Great update Tybee Island looked very interesting !!Love the architecture in that area !!!

Tybee was a cool place. It really has that retro beach town vibe! I'm sure its a popular place all year round.

I'm a little confused, why no backpacks or purses in the lighthouse?

I was thinking its a bomb scare type thing. I guess if they don't have someone to check bags then they can't come in at all. I told you they are very uptight in Georgia. :confused3 In June I went up the lighthouse at Ponce Inlet and I am certain that rule did not exist.

That poor stone lion looks so sad :(

I know. That's why I had to take his picture.

Good timing with the rain!

I totally lucked out because I really could have ruined my camera!

Never too many pictures, my vote is in :)

:thumbsup2 It's unanimous then! :thumbsup2

I did forget to comment on the cathedral, the stations of the cross were totally awesome. I love old churches like that.

I have never seen stations like that in a more modern church. I thought they were fabulous. I was tempted to walk the entire perimeter and take pictures of all of them, but I decided not to. I was just happy they allowed pictures.

Old churches are my favorite. I occasionally get to visit Saint Francis Xavier shrine in Maryland. It was one of the original Jesuit churches. I think at one point it was a college or place of study. I love going there because there is SO much history there. It was built at a time when the Jesuits were subject to religious persecution. They have many old artifacts there. It's very impressive. It's about 25 minutes from my house and its opened occasionally for mass, weddings, and funerals.

Okay, how can I ever get caught up around here if as soon as I think I get caught up, there are like four more updates to read??? :faint:

I've been sticking to my once a week update schedule, but I did update two days early this week. ;) I am really anxious to get to the WDW part of this trip so I'm going to try to post another HHI update this week.

Love the rest of your tour of Savannah! Leave it to you, Mary Ellen, to make a cemetery look interesting! :rotfl: That church is indeed beautiful! Love all of the artistry inside! ::yes:: And such beautiful stained glass!

It wasn't me that made the cemetery interesting - it WAS interesting. I have never seen a cemetery like that up here. It was cool and spooky, too. A place of reverence and a place to give you a few chills.

Great visit over to Tybee Island! I wonder how much that water level gauge showing the different Hurricane strengths has an impact on the locals when an actual hurricane is approaching??? :confused3

I was wondering the same thing because if that's how high the storm surge gets than WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing that all the walking isn't the only thing that deterred climbing to the top of the lighthouse! I'm sure this was another undertaking that you weren't anxious for Denny to attempt quite yet! :rolleyes2

You're probably right about that. As I recall, the next day he insisted on riding the beach bike and I remember being worried about that. I will tell you that we both successfully climbed a light house in June, so stay tuned for that adventure!

So pretty, all of it! All those rules, though, on that lighthouse! Where did the Tybee Islland lighthouse place on the list of unfriendliest places! Lol-

And I think the plant is rainbow swiss chard- sorry for disagreeing! :)

:rotfl2: I guess I'll have to check with conde-nast on that. They did the ratings. :rotfl2:

Savannah and Tybee were both really pretty. HHI is a lot prettier than tybee, but its still a cute place.

And I think the plant is rainbow swiss chard- sorry for disagreeing! :)

Rainbow swiss chard? You may definitely be correct. I just looked it up and it looks pretty darn similar.

Loved catching up on the mega updates.
The church is beautiful.
I'd love to visit all of these places one of these days!
