I Told You Driving Was Bad For Your Health! *2/2* NEW TRIP REPORT LINK P102

Did you buy one of those amazing crystal Cinderellas castles? Hehe

I hope everything gets better with Max, I saw about your troubles on Facebook :(

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

:cool1: Pictures are back (and some beauties, too!!!) Love the sunset pictures and it looks like an interesting view from your room.

On my way to airport. Couldn't figure out why one of my words was censored. Then I went back and read my original and realized I left the f out of shift. So sorry. I will correct as soon as I can.

Thanks for letting us know what got blocked out. I thought you were trying to type "got my half over with", but coudn't figure out the obscenity.

Someone over on the Y&B thread made a typo when she was talking about watching the clock and I was thinking "Were you in Morocco?"

We arrived last night to our top secret off site location here in Kissimmee. Our accommodations are actually quite nice considering I paid $72 a night for our room. Actually - its not a room, its a 2 BR condo. Haha! It's huge and fairly convenient to the parks. I hope this ends up being a good alternative to onsite if we ever have to do offsite again.

Wow! That sounds like quite a great deal! BK (before kids) Mark and I always stayed in hotels on International Drive, but it really is a different type of stay.

Sorry I haven't been on the DIS since I got home. I have been dealing with my photobucket issue, my work transfer, my dad, my cat, and some other misc stuff.

Thinking of you as you deal with the stuff in your life!

Someone over on the Y&B thread made a typo when she was talking about watching the clock and I was thinking "Were you in Morocco?"

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Luckily I am thinking before I write because my first thought would have just made it worse.

So lucky I was not drinking my SODA while reading this, it could have led to an obstruction. :lmao:

I am so glad you have been busy. I thought I would be pages behind and I am in luck. I have basically missed nothing since I last read! :thumbsup2

Sorry I haven't been on the DIS since I got home. I have been dealing with my photobucket issue, my work transfer, my dad, my cat, and some other misc stuff.

Your PB situation sounded like a real pain...glad you've got it taken care of.

we actually come home with a big souvenir this trip that I am still feeling a little guilty about. But will get to that soon enough.

I am going to an AAA Magic Creator seminar tonight, so I may not DIS with replies till tomorrow. But soon. I promise!

Hmm....big souvie? Wish I had a really funny suggestion about what it could be possibly be...but I'm out. :confused3

First!

Holy cow, I can't believe that worked! Hahaha I credit my early rising tendencies along with my Atlantic time zone.
I am going back to read it all! Have a marvellous trip! I can't wait to read all about it!

:welcome: to first place Wendy! It only took me 15 days to congratulate! :rotfl2: Better late than never. HHI was a great trip and so was our recent trip to WDW. Had a blast!

Up and cussin' so early on a Saturday morning, MEK???

Yup - that would be me! :rotfl2: Actually, I am so glad you pointed that out because that was a legit typo and I immediately went back to fix it! :welcome: Caren!

I enjoy seeing the 'other' Disney resorts, so I look forward to seeing all the HH pictures. I have already seen a few of them on FB. I'm wondering how Disneyish Vero is going to feel next week, as this will be a new experience for us - Disney, yet not Disney World.

Well, judging by the FB pictures it looks like you had a great time in Vero. The cottage looked beautiful and the weather looked fantastic. So glad you had a great time. I have to admit that Anita's pics have me wanting to plan a Vero vacation. HHI is definitely, but its a equally top rate resort.

I'm here I'm here! Looking forward to hearing all about your newest adventures :)

***Edit- I wanted to snag my place and go back to read. Fantastic pictures! I just plugged things into mapquest and its saying 9 1/2 hours for me. I'm still on the fence on flying or driving, since I'd have to rent a car anyway. It would save a lot of money just to drive down.

:welcome: Pam!

The drive is really not bad at all. I guess it could be bad in the middle of summer. We actually go down 301. I'm not sure how close you live to 301, but I would recommend picking that up north of DC and following it to Richmond. Savannah is the closest airport - about 45 minutes. I guess if you can get a decent flight price, but every price I have seen in high.

I am woefully behind on your other report but wanted to subscribe so I have this in my queue. Love your TRs and beautiful photos. :goodvibes. Have a great trip!!!!!

:welcome: C! So glad to have you here. We had a wonderful trip to WDW! So much fun! No worries on being behind. I haven't posted or read anything in two weeks. I wonder if I will ever catch up. :confused3 :rotfl:

I'm in! I don't hate driving although I hate driving through Eastern Colorado and Kansas. Which I have to do in 2 weeks.

:welcome: Jill! Thanks for joining in! I guess I missed you send off. Driving though Colorado and Kansas definitely does NOT sound fun! :rolleyes1

HHI looks amazing. Definitely on my list of places to go.

Jill in CO

It's a great resort. Such a wonderful, unique place. It is definitely now one of my regular vacation spots!

I'm here Mary Ellen! I laughed outloud at your description of yourself....you are sooooo not old.

:welcome: Lisa! Thanks for joining in! So glad to have you here. I'm glad you think I'm not "so not old". :rotfl2: (even though I'm up there :rolleyes1) Can't wait to get caught up on your TR. I am sure I have missed a lot.

I'm here, I'm here! Can't wait to read another of your TRs, Mary Ellen; they are always entertaining and the photos are always gorgeous!:goodvibes

:welcome: Alicia! So good to have you here. Thanks for joining in. How's the little guy? I bet he's getting big.

I'm here!

:welcome: Danielle! Thanks so much for joining in!

Joining in! Hope yall have a great trip!

:welcome: Marissa! Thanks for joining in! I hope you had a great trip. I sure did. Going over to sub now!

Great I made the start of this trip report.:goodvibes

:welcome: mic and min! Thanks for joining in!

Dh and I are going to HHI in Sept. for us it is only a 4.5hr trip so we will be driving. We are staying in a condo at Palmetto Dunes so I look forward to reading about the restaurants you visited and what you thought of them.

4.5 hours? So jealous! That would be a great drive. Have you ever been there before? Try Vine. It's expensive and hard to get a ressie, but it was wonderful. Stay tuned.

Then what your offsite visit to Disney was like, and where you stayed. Wishing you a trip filled with pixiedust.

We had a great trip to WDW. Staying offsite did not diminish our fun in the least. I have decided I am going to run a little contest to guess the resort.

Oh you know I'm on board for this one! Maybe I can get caught up on my TR and we'll both be reporting on HHI!

:welcome: Sheree! So glad to have you here. I don't know whether you caught up on your TR, but I know I have A LOT of catching up to do myself. Wasn't HHI wonderful?

Bad Brenda! I thought I already subscribed! Oops! Ok, now I'm here and I've secured my sub so I'm not going away until I've heard everything. (Except the curse words! :lmao:) Even though we know what that ominous tone foreshadows.... I will be hanging on every word.

I'm here, I see I made the second page. Now I must read the two pages that so far are posted!

:welcome: Doris! Thanks for joining in! Glad you are here. :thumbsup2

Im reading along!

:welcome: Rachel. So glad you are here! Thanks for joining in! :thumbsup2

Joining in -- LOVE all your previous TR's! :)

:welcome: bikiotus! Thanks so much for joining in. It's always great to have a reader come out of the shadows! :woohoo:

I'm here but I am a little disappointed about no South of the Border pics. :lmao: Just kidding.

Great start.

:welcome: Scott. Thanks for joining in! And, guess what? There WILL be South of the Border pictures on the way home! :rotfl:

Only a day late, but I finally saw the new TR link. I hope you have a great time!

:welcome: Andy! Thanks for joining in! And, FWIW, I'm about two weeks late to my own TR. :faint: We had a fantastic trip. It was so much fun!

All caught up! Trip seems to be off to a good start but I can hear that ominous music playing. :rolleyes1

Yeah for being all caught up! Now if only I could get all caught up! Such a slacker, I am! :rotfl2:

Glad your WDW trip is off to a good start as well and that you are liking your undisclosed location. ;) Super happy you got to see Illuminations last night. That's my favorite. :goodvibes

Have fun!!

We had such a great time on our WDW vacation, even with our top secret off site location. :rolleyes1 It worked out really well. And I thought of you first when we went in through the IG (I mean your private entrance) on our first evening!

2BR for $72 a night, WOW! Hopefully you don't have to stay offsite too often but at least you got a fantastic deal.

I priced the same place for a couple nights in October, just out of curiosity, and it's $160 a night now. So we really did get a steal. And it was very nice! I am going to run a contest to see who can guess the name of where we stayed. Clues to follow.......

Sorry about the prolonged flight and the rain.

At the time it was a drag, but in retrospect it was just a minor delay. Ahhh - summer thunderstorms are so awesome, aren't they? :rotfl2:

Thanks for checking in, hope the weather today is better :)

We had great weather for the remainder of the trip. I'm very happy with how everything turned out.

Another MEK TR!! :cool1: I'm interested in your offsite experience. DD and DSiL just returned from a work seminar for DSiL's work and stayed offsite. They went to DD twice and then to MK on Friday. I guess we've made them onsite resort snobs because they said numerous times they were spoiled with the transportation options staying onsite using our DVC membership! :lmao:

:welcome: Bill! Thanks for joining in! Sorry I have been off to a slow start, but I will eventually get back up to speed.

We had a very positive off site experience. Since we always rent a car no matter where we stay, transportation was not an issue. I have definitely become a resort snob, but given the nature of this trip I did really well.

I still LOVE my DVC membership and can't wait to stay DVC next time!

:rotfl2: Thats hilarious!

:rotfl2: I know! My old age dyslexia is starting to get me in trouble. :rolleyes1

I'm here. :goodvibes Getting ready to spend the day on the lake. :lovestruc I'll be back to catch up tonight.

:welcome: Jenny! So glad you are here. I hope you have a fabulous summer and lots of good time out on the lake. Sounds wonderful!

Howdy MEK!! :wave2: Sounds like you are having a great time, hope the rain let's up soon. :)

:welcome: Camille! I am so happy you are here to join in! We actually only had significant rain that first evening. The rest of the trip was near perfect!

Can't wait to hear more about your adventures!! :)

Coming up! Well, I hope it's coming up :rolleyes1 I have so much catching up to do!

Hey!!!! I'm old too! :dance3:

:welcome: Jen! And no you're not - at least you sure don't look it!

I hate driving as well. As I have gotten older I just despise it so much. But I think a 10 hour drive would be doable. But not likable. :rotfl2:

Surprisingly, for me the drive to HHI is not that bad. I have done a lot worse drives. Maybe its because I've gone off season. I wouldn't hesitate to drive again and I hope we get to go back again. It's such a great place.

I am here! So excited to see what happens.

:welcome: Ashley! Thanks for joining in! So glad you're here!

Since you like y'all, make sure you add another southern phrase to you vocabulary. When you want to invite someone back, just say y'all come back now, ya hear? :rotfl:

insert Beverly Hillbillies them song ...here......! :rotfl2:

Finally over here.

:welcome: Pat! Thanks for joining in!

Love the intro - you are not old- :rotfl:

Depends on the day, I guess! :rotfl2:

You got your "f" in shift back. But still not in the right place to take away your censored status.

Are you serious? I still didn't spell shift right. :faint: I give up then. I will stay censored. :lmao:

Glad the rain has gone away and you are finding off site a good option. Heck the price cant be beat.

The price was awesome and we really enjoyed our off site stay. Would we have rather been DVC? Of course, but as an alternate option it worked great and we had lots of room to spread out.

I'm back from my road trip and ready to hear all about yours!

Jill in CO

I'm not sure how I missed this :confused3 But I'm here now and looking forward to it :)

For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what word replaced the astricks :lmao: Yes, i'm weird like that!

Very cool that you were given a choice of buildings :thumbsup2 Still trying to figure out when would be a good time to visit HHI with DH. I just feel like if we're going to be flying to that part of the country, it better be for WDW! Do you know how far the drive would be from HHI to WDW?

Can't wait to read about the rest!

Subbing on... Going back to read... LOVE the title... (but also afraid that's going to be coming out of my mouth next month....;)

I love the look of the HHI resort... It reminds me of a cousin of the Wilderness Lodge... I'm dying to stay there... I know the points vary wildly depending of the time of year....

You made really great time driving.. It probably helps not having someone with a 10 year old bladder... ;)

Love the moss on the trees... can't wait to get a chance to see it...

Mom was southern, born in Florida, lived on a farm until she was 14. She always said y'all, Dad would always reply, no y'all here just me.

:lmao: That's funny! But I can understand why he would make that reply. Y'all really does infer more than one. I guess southerners don't make that differentiation. :rotfl2:

Great rate on the condo, makes one pause just a little, but gotta stay on Disney property.

On site will always be my first choice, but for the purpose of this trip it really did work out perfectly. The fact that we know our way around the off site hotels so well really did help with a few of our parking maneuvers. :rolleyes1 We made sure we visited a few resorts, let's just leave it at that.

I noticed that too. :rotfl2: Also noticed a picture of Denny is the parking lot. :rotfl:

My question to myself is - How can anyone be so dyslexic so many times? :rotfl2:

Saw your link so here signing on before I go back and read! :woohoo:

Page three already and I'm behind from the very start....... :guilty:

:welcome: Goofy fan! You are not far behind. But I am. :rotfl2: Thanks for joining in and maybe I'll get an update in one of these days.

Well...I thought I'd be on time! :lmao: Guess not!

You are totally on time! Love it!

I had no idea that your brother had cancelled your trip. And I am so completely intrigued by your secret off site location! And I'm more than a little curious as to how it works out for you guys. It is a tempting way to get back down there and save some serious money. My cousin went down with her fiancee for a conference a few weeks back and they stayed at the Waldorf on property and the deluxe prices make the Waldorf look like a steal. No joke. So, it makes you wonder...especially for those of us who haven't bought DVC yet.

It was such a bummer that he canceled, but we still really wanted to go with me starting a new job and all. So I went on a search to find inexpensive lodging. Our tickets were already purchased. As much as I wanted to stay on property I had already missed the early summer deals. Our secret location worked out really, really well. Couldn't have been better considering the price.

I never thought about the Waldorf. It still would have been more than I wanted to spend, but it would have been fun to check it out.

Anyway...HHI really looks gorgeous. What beautiful pictures. What sunsets!

It is a wonderful little resort. I absolutely love it there.

Yay! :yay: your new TR has started! Can't wait to read more about both trips!

:welcome: Danielle. thanks so much for joining in on my latest TR which I am really having a hard time getting off the ground. :rotfl: I really hope to have some kind of update soon!

Great start to the HHI part, save for the foreshadowing...

Yes - there was some serious foreshadowing...... :rolleyes1 But, overall, it turned out to be a good trip. It could have been a lot worse, let's put it that way.

I am late!!!!!!! Crazy weekend and missed this starting, wah! But I'm here now.

:welcome: rookie Cynthia! You are totally NOT late because it is taking me forever to get this thing off the ground. But I'm getting there.

I feel your pain and truly hope I don't find myself faced with something similar on the nephew side.

Oh - that WOULD be terrible. As it turned out none of my nephews were too distraught over not going, so taking two of them would have really stirred the pot. It all worked out for the best.

17? How cool to get a choice!

You got it! Ding ding ding ding ding!

I love that you are greeted with the Mickey glove wave, that's awesome!

I thought that was pretty awesome, especially since that didn't happen last time. I think it might be a seasonal thing.

I didn't know about the GERD (or forgot) so wow, I can totally understand how both of you downplayed it.

GERD city. But it seems that even that has improved, so it kind of makes you wonder.

No you can't. 3 of my favorite things right there! Adult beverages, buffet and yummy food. And good company!

It was a great kick-off evening. I'm glad that we stayed local and took a chance. It worked out perfectly and the singer/guitarist was really pretty good.

:welcome: SusieBead! Thanks so much for joining in. Now maybe if I do an update I can actually hold your attention.

I'm in, Mary Ellen!! I am enjoying the HHI updates. :thumbsup2 What a gorgeous area. Even though I know you had a major bump in the road on that trip, I can still enjoy your updates knowing it all turned out okay in the end! :goodvibes

:welcome: Khertz! Thanks so much for joining in. And it did all turn out OK in the end, but I will be adding some dramatic effects - you know - just because I can. :rotfl:

I hope you are having fun & staying cool in WDW!

We had an awesome time in WDW! Absolutely fantastic trip. Can't wait to write about it all.

:welcome: wiigirl! Thanks for joining in! Glad to have you along.

I'm here, can't wait to read along for another Disney trip! I can't believe I was supposed to go on my first solo trip and possibly meet you this week...oh well, I'm sure we will meet up someday! I'm TRYING to figure out how I can do a solo trip in the Fall, but it's looking more like I'd do it in September, not October, when you will be there. Someday!

:welcome: Jen! Thanks for joining in! Sorry things didn't work out for your solo trip! I hope we do get to meet up in the future. FYI - There is a future girls trip in the works for May 2014! :)

Just popping in to say I'm caught up! I don't know how much I'll be able to read and comment until I get back from my trip, but I'll do my best...

:cool1: woo hoo! caught up! yeah! :cool1: It looks like you are having a wonderful time in Hawaii! Can't wait to read all about it!

Glad you're having a great trip so far! I'm loving all the mystery resort facebook updates!
:thumbsup2

We had such a fantastic time! And i will be doing a contest to locate my mystery accommodations!

What? A trip down I-95 and no South of the Border pictures? Not even a billboard??? :sad2:

Nope. Nada. That's what happens when you are the driver!

HHIR looks like a great place to stay. The ride in is so picturesque. I love the lowcountry of South Carolina with all the trees and moss. How great to get an oversized Mickey hand greeting when you arrived! :cool1: It looks like you got a good building choice and a great room view!

I absolutely love the low country. It's such a cool place to visit. I fell in love with it the first time I visited.

The hand was a nice touch. I really got a kick out of that!

I had a nicer view the last time I was there, but it was also totally off season, so I was pleased with this location.

Hope you have a great trip to Hawai'i! :yay:

I'm his FB fan and, trust me, he is having a great time! Today his oldest kids went surfing. :thumbsup2

Glad your trip is going well! What a great deal it sounds like you got on your room. And :woohoo: for the fun DIS meets!!! :thumbsup2

We really did get an awesome deal on the room. I was very satisfied with our accommodations. And the DIS meets were lot of fun!

Signing on. I'll have to come back to read at some future time though!

:welcome: Glen! Thanks for joining in. You may need to come back and read, but I need to come back and write another update. :rotfl:

You snuck in a new TR before slipping off to Disney!!!

I'm in, but like Glenn, have to come back later to read.

:welcome: Dee! Yup - I knew if I started the TR before Disney then I would be committed. As you can see, I am definitely having trouble getting my post trip update in. Soon. Yeah - I keep saying that, but soon!

Subbed though I still am a few days behind on the your last TR and have been getting majorly confused with Cynthia's pieces. :confused3 clearly I need to just DIS full time so I can be all caught up LOL

:welcome: Mary Ellen! Thanks for joining in. No worries on being behind. I am so far behind on everyone's TRs I don't think I will ever catch up.

MEK I LOVE your photos. I knew you'd pick bldg. 17 to be closer to the water and that gorgeous view.

Right on sister! It was pretty much a no brainer.

Can't wait to hear your mystery vacation because once the prices are out I have to price travel options for two of my sister's & family for a 3-Family-Sisters-(and maybe brother!)Disney trip next summer. I want to be sure to include some off-site pricing options just in case.

I really enjoyed this off site option. I think I am going to do a contest to see who can guess our top secret off site location. The most the units would sleep is 6, but they are fairly close to Disney and the costumer service was good.
