I thought 100pts was minimum direct purchase

So we officially cancelled our DVC membership direct with Disney the other day without penalty. We had purchased 100pts from SSR, which at the time we were told was the minimum you could purchase directly through Disney as a non member. Our guide called me today to check in and offered us a smaller contract. Said he would go as low as 50 pts if we wanted.
Is this something new? I know for a fact we were told 100pts was the minimum you could purchase direct from Disney if you were not a member.

We bought in with 50 SSR points to get our foot in the door. It wasn't long before we added on 100 BLT points!! So yes, it IS possible!!

Wow, I had no idea. Our guide the day we purchased told us the minimum was 100 pts, now he called and said we could go lower. I was kind of upset b/c he originally told us less was not possible. Thanks for sharing.

I think it changes day by day, new promo replacing the old. And whether they think they'll lose you completely. I think the DVC is confident that 50 points will just give you a taste of the DVC and they know many members add on after their initial purchase. We did and we bought 160 points to start with. It will take good will power to keep from adding on, because 50 points will be used up fast.

I think they have been allowing this for about 6 months or so but do not advertise it at all.

My guide said that they will let new members in with less than 100 but they never know how long it will last. My sense was it was only offered when they really wanted to close the sale.
