For all you other early august free dining rejects:

Last night we decided to switch from Pop (8/6-8/15) package (with insurance) to a room only AAA rate with base tickets added on. We lost our money for the ins. because they said it was only offered for packages but the rate we got through AAA was $116/night at CBR! We were excited because we have never stayed there and we have heard good things about it. So here's how it breaks down:

Old Offer:
Pop 9 nights MYW 10day tkts w/ins = $1795.54

New offer:
CBR 9 nights + 10 day tkts (2 adults, 2 kids)=$2011.60

Did I do the right thing? I was really wanting to get some kind of discount!

I think that is a great deal considering rack rate is $145 (?) for value season. In fact of you read the boards here a lot most veterans book the room only through AAA to get this discount and then purchase discount tickets through another reputable party.

The only better deal I know of is the free dining package offer, but Disney does not allow any other discount to be applied with it. That offer saves you the cost of the Disney Dining Plan of $38.99/day for each adult (age 10+) and 10.99/day for each child (age 3-9) but you pay the rack rate and must purchase at least one day base ticket for each member of your party.

IMHO the insurance is not worth the money based upon the coverage. If I am going to cancel (not very likely) the most I will lose is my $200 dollar deposit which is very close to how much I would pay in insurance. Most likely if I did cancel it would be more than a week out which means I would only lose $100. If I did cancel I probably would have more pressing matters to worry about than $200.

You got 20% off rack rate, which is the AAA Discount for that time of the year for a moderate resort.

I booked my vacation with an AAA agent so I could get a package since we wanted the dining plan. I still get the 20% off my room, but I am able to add on my tickets and the dining plan too.
