March 1st has been an odd day for calling the Reservation line. As if any of you need another example...

I took the advice of the "3rd time is the charm" thread and called one more time. I was very calm with the super sweet CM who answered and acted like I didn't know what I wanted. I told her I was booked with my room only pin that expired yesterday. I went on to say the reason why I was not pleased was because I had a night on the end of our stay that was rack rate because it was not included in the promo dates. I told her that was the reason that I had changed from the Poly (1 room) to POR (2 rooms). She said let me see what I can do and came back with the last night at 40% off as well, but only a the Poly. I am paying $314 more for what I wanted to begin with...That officially makes me happy because it is the best I can get...better than the FD I have been complaining that I did not get today. I'm done.

The third time was the charm for me as well, but it does leave me wondering several things..

1. Why did the original CM not give it to me?
2. Why was she able to magically do it?
3. Why do we have to push and push to get the best deal?

EDIT-- We truly are at their mercy!!!!!
 
I'm glad you got what you wanted but I'm sorry that you had to expend so much time and energy to get it.

There's a frenetic feeling to the way discounts and specials are being doled out that I'm not happy with. Sadly it will make our June trip the last one for a long time. I'm fine with pins being randomly assigned based on whatever criteria Disney establishes, but if someone does have a code it shouldn't take calling back repeatedly and getting different answers every single time.

The bad communication regarding pins is also annoying. We've received numerous pins in the past and have NEVER gotten an email or piece of snail mail letting us know. I only knew about them because I called and asked. And every time the CM asked if I had gotten an email with the clear implication that if I had not then I shouldn't be calling.

I love the logistics of a Disney vacation but it needs to feel logical to me and this just doesn't.
 

Well, I don't know if frenetic. But since there's no transparent method to them being handed out I think it's basically up to the CM's discretion and that's crap.

I was being too nice. You stated my feelings exactly! I can handle not being on the list of those who will receive pins, but this discretionary dispensing of substantial discounts feels dishonest, which does not make me want to spend thousands to do business with Disney. So I won't.

I agree. I actually came out $35 cheaper than if they had given me the FD PIN. I do not like that I have had this ressie for 2 months, spoken to at least 7 different CMs each time explaining why I was looking for more of a discount after I realized my last night was full price. Why did it take hours of my life (literally on hold and online) playing with numbers, if "this" than "that" scenarios to find my best deal. I do not feel "entitled" to the FD code. I did't get it. So be it. BUT, why do magical things happen with certain CMs? I am so annoyed by all of this, even though it worked out for me, there are tons of people here still waiting/calling to have their perfect CM who will treat them like a person. It sucks.

*** Notice I said I realized that my last night was full price. They did not inform me of that when I had a code on my account for 40% off Deluxe which I had not been emailed****
