I think the Earl of Sandwich menu is incorrect on Allearsnet.com

At the top of the menu it says Menu Date: November 2006 and lists the Tomato Soup as being $1.95. However when my family and I went there in December 2006 the Tomato Soup cost .99 cents and I remember that because we went to the Earl of Sandwich two different times. I know from a previous thread the price of the soup did go up to $1.95, however I think Allearsnet.com is wrong when it lists the last time it was updated. Anyway here is their menu so you can see what I am referring to. http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_eofs.htm

It wouldn't be the first time.

They often change menus more rapidly than the online versions can be updated.

Write all ears and tell them to fix it. Of course the price might have changed yesterday...

Did you take the time to scan and email a corrected menu to allears? Unless the menu is dated the date in Allears probably refers to the date they received the menu.

This is not exactly a news flash. The menus on this site, or allearsnet, or TGM, are never, ever going to be completely up to date.

They could have temporarily discounted the tomato soup while you were there. Maybe someone ordered too many tomatoes. :rotfl:

I fear that this is yet another question that NO ONE will ever know the answer to.

Maybe it was a special discount to Contemporary Concierge guests only... ;) Membership has it's privileges!!!

Ever since Earl of Sandwich has been open the price was always .99 cents.

I find that comment rude because the price has nothing to do with where my family and I stay. Besides since we always pay cash there they have no way of knowing where we stay.

OP, this is truly meant out of kindness....in very, very, very many of your posts, you manage to say something like "when my family and I stayed at the Atrium Club...", or "my family and I always stay at the Atrium Club", in posts where we're not specifically discussing the concierge services at the Contemporary. It's really quite noticeable to those who read the boards often, and dannyh23 was just teasing you a little.

I'm sure you don't mean it that way, but it could certainly be seen be some as bragging. I understand that you love the CR (I do too), and your stays at the Atrium Club, but maybe it doesn't need to be mentioned so often. :)

Thank you Lynne for saying what I thought. :) If I said it, it would be considered "rude". :sad2:

I don't see how you find my comment to be rude since my answer to your question was just as good as any other, especially considering that some guests do get discounts based on showing cards, various memberships, AP's, etc.

I've never had the fortune to stay at the CR in the Atrium Club like you and your family, so I have no idea if your family gets discounts at some places or not.

Please feel free to place me on your "Ignore" list if you thought my comment was rude as it was not meant to be.

I suppose the thread can be locked at this point because it doesn't really serve any purpose at all -- you already have a thread about this particular eatery and particular menu item open with the same observation -- and no one in the world will ever know why the allears menu price and/or date differs from your recollection.

Many online menu listings will post menus as typed up by their helpful contributors, without requiring a scan and a quality check. Usually the quality check isn't necessary, but of course we are all human and these errors do creep in. In the grand scheme of things, fifty cents isn't too bad a margin to be off.

I know that Deb and her volunteers work very hard to keep that site up to date.

I am wondering why this is even an issue worthy of discussion. If you have a question on any information on allearsnet.com then all you need to do is click Contact Us at the bottom of the screen to let them know.

It is $1.95 a la carte and $.99 when you add it to a sandwich. Kind of like "fries with that!"
