I think Ke$ha's lyrics set the women's movement back 50 years...

I don't think Kesha takes herself as seriously as you're taking her, lol. For goodness sakes, her video has unicorn people bursting into rainbows. It's just a fun bit of fluff to dance to. I don't think she's planning on running for congress or working as a school guidance anytime soon.

As far as the woman's movement goes, Kesha seems pretty empowered to do and be whoever she wants to be. Perhaps if she had a song about women belonging in the kitchen and how they shouldn't work outside the house I might have an issue..

If I were worried about her...and I'm not...it would be more the fact that she got people to accept a $ as making an 's' sound.

I think that movie "Bad Teacher" set us back a few hundred. What the heck is that all about??? Breast jobs to attract men and slow mo car wash scenes! Jeepers!! Did Cameron Diaz need the money that badly?? I visibly winced at the previews to that one!!:headache:

Well, there we have it folks. The entire women's movement only goes forward if women make their Daddies proud. ;)

forget the "women's movement" part...maybe I should have left that out...my point is the song glamorizes the airhead, party girl, conceited, slutty lifestyle...don't think the women's movement was fought to encourage girls to live like tramps.

not how I want MY daughters to live....and I'm happy to add, they DON'T live like the image portrayed in her songs....and no, they're not barefoot and pregnant, chained to the stove, dropping babies and flipping cornbread...

Love Ke$ha.

Love that she could give a flip. Love that she is who she is. Love that she doesn't apologize. Love that she says whatever the heck she wants, without censorship. Love that she's using her art to make herself some money. Love that the "women's movement" brought us to the point that she has the ability to do all of the above.

Love her.

Yep I cringed at that one too.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the whole point of the women's movement to be able to choose what they want to be/do, and not be forced in to a role by anyone? I think Ke$ha is probably pretty happy for herself where she is. Who are we to judge that? Maybe because the smartest girl I know could be a model for Ke$ha's songs, but I see no problem with it.
Exactly:thumbsup2 In high school in the late 80s, early 90s I had a counselor who did not want me taking more than one Home Ec class as electives (I took child development 1 and 2 and sewing) because "that is not what we fought the woman's movement for" I remember telling her I thought she and other fought for my right to choose--not just to force me into a different stereotype than the earlier one:sad2:

:rotfl:

My 11-year old DD loves both those songs and has them on her iPod. I always screen the lyrics in the songs before I allow her to buy them. I don't see anything particularly wrong with We Are Who We Are or Blow. Honestly, I am much more disturbed by the lyrics of the song If I Die Young by The Band Perry which is a gentle twangy country-type song.

I can't stand her. I think she looks like a cracked out version of Taylor Swift and her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. And I refuse to put the stupid dollar symbol in her name.

LOL! Cracked out Taylor Swift, I love it!!

But how does it glamorize it? She says in the song that she's tired of being so serious, and wants to go out and dance until she's numb. So it's one night that she's singing about.

It's fun to glam it up and go out and dance all night every so often. I don't do it anymore, but while I was in college and grad school you bet I dumped the studying every so often and had some fun!

That isn't to say that I let her songs stay on when I'm driving around with my 7 year old...but I don't think she's telling people what to do...I think she's just telling people what SHE (or $HE?) likes to do every so often.
