I may have worn him down and talked him into a Disney World honeymoon!

Probably in June, but after gay days since we are going on AIDS LifeCycle (Details to follow) and that ends on June 6.

I'm super excited, the get three days free deal is really good, so we might go for it. I know there are boards for all these things, and I've read most of them, but I know you guys and like your input. So:

1. I think I like the look of the Wilderness Lodge, thoughts?

2. I'm thinking DDP because I want to eat at places like Artist Point and Cali Grill a lot during our trip. Is it worth it at $71.99 a day?

Thanks guys, and keep your fingers crossed for me! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Excellent news!

I'll cross my fingers and think good thoughts for you!

I've never done the DDP (we're local, why would we?), so I can't tell you if it's worth it or not. Artist Point and California Grill are both great choices! But don't overlook all of the other great places to eat!

Soooo happy for you! We are in the process of booking our trip and doing the dining plan for the first time as well. A friend who's done the meals a ton of times, told us not to do the deluxe plan as it's too much food? So we're doing the one, with a snack, which we can have cereal for breakfast, the counter-service which is a TON of food for lunch and then a sit down meal for dinner. More than enough and we saved $400 downsizing our plan. Good luck. On the Disney website, you can print off the whole dining plan, and it really DOES seem easy once you read through. After doing that, we realized, we just wouldn't eat that much food and why pay for wasted food? Good luck, and how special is that....HONEYMOONING in Disney?!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Gratz!!

1. My 2 favorite resorts are the WL and Poly. I'm sure there's a WL thread somewhere on the resorts board that is bound to have plenty of pics so you can check it out :thumbsup2

2. If you do the 4/3 deal (pay for 4 nights, get 3 free) it comes out to about $41 a night for the plan instead of $71.99.

Right now I'd say Jiko has them all beat
for a foodie experience :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Wicked!!!!

WL is a lovely resort. We've enjoyed our stays there.

We've only had one horrid, awful, hateful, miserable experience with the DDP so will never, ever try it again even for free...but don't let our opinion influence you.

The Bistro de Paris (upstairs in France) has an incredible degustation menu. If you get the chance, try it!

Jiko is great, as is the Yachtsman's Steakhouse. Ricardo is a wonderful server there, as is Oscar!

We also have great fun (especially with family or a group) at Cape May. It's a buffet and if you like shellfish, you'll be in heaven! :teeth:

Marrakesh is fun too! So is 1900 Park Fare.

We did not like the Wave at all, and had some of the worst service (and not so great food) ever at Narcoosee's.

Hope that helps a bit and have a WONDERFUL TIME!!!! ::yes:: :hyper:

Oh I hope you do get to go! It'll be wonderful. I really enjoyed having the DDP, I liked having it all prepaid even if I did have a few credits left over.

Yep! Yep! Yep! Should have made it clear that most folks really like the DDP.

We however (said in the single most snootiest voice you can imagine) are not, "most folks." Sniff. :rotfl2: ;) :rotfl2:

We did it a few times - long ago - before they added all the rules and point crap-
We thought it was nice not to carry cash.

Had I done it when gratuity and appetizers were included I'd feel totally gypped now.

Thanks guys, you're so helpful, I'm going to keep considering it. I want to have a really relaxed and fun trip, so DDP sounds like it would be fun just to have flexibility to do things like order room service, on the other hand it does sound like an awful lot of food. Maybe the regular dining plan is the way to go, I will keep up the research!

I used DDP to mean Disney Dining Plan. I have not gone the Deluxe route. But if you plan on using room service (and I looooove room service) I don't think it'll be too much food because it uses 2 TS credits per meal, per person.

Apologies, I will use the preferred nomenclature of DxDP

NOMENCLATURE: Fancy Smancy.

(I never heard that word until I started working with electronic parts and they'd ask customers what the manufactures nomenclature for a given piece might be)

Sigh. I think I am going to say no to this trip idea. After looking at the crowd levels for those days on touringplans.com and doing some thinking I don't think the other half would have a very good time.

Ultimately I would like a honeymoon trip we could both enjoy, and it sounds like WDW is going to be an awful lot of walking, which I don't mind but since mike has a hip issue tends to be very painful for him. Sigh.

Off to find a better trip for us, though I'm just not as into it. Though I was able to get him to commit to going to WDW in offpeak time, so maybe Oct or Jan of next year.

Did I mention sigh?
