Poor little thing. At least you were there and were able to notify the owners and they were able to be there with him.

If he was a really small dog, I bet the big dogs thought he was a rabbit or something. The owners of the big dogs need to be found and told about what happened and keep their dogs up.

Oh, God, that poor little chi. Just imagining the pure terror and the pain he suffered at the hands of the big dogs gives me chills. Awful! Thank goodness you not only helped him, but were able to track down his people so that they could be with him at the end.

I have bassets, and while DH would like nothing more than taking them for a walk to show them off rolleyes: ), I won't do it because I worry that another dog would show up and attack them. They have a lovely fenced yard and they're safe there! 'Course, the people who owned the chi thought he was safe, no doubt

Update:
Woody's Mom called. They had to put him down at the emergency clinic tonight. There were puncture wounds to his lungs among a lot of other injuries. Considering his age they and the vet decided it was the best thing. I'm just so sad for him and his family. She said they've had him since he was 2 months old.

I was afraid this would be the update...basically same thing just happened to my sisters Yorkie. A Pit bull got her through the fence, tore her to pieces basically and she had to be put down.

that poor puppy. you are an extremely wonderful person to put yourself in harms way to save the life of an animal. most people wouldn't bother.

this is why my lab has been around little dogs and small animals since i got her. i didn't want to chance her thinking that they were toys. she knows she can play with them, but not get rough.

How sad for that poor little doggie! I get so angry when people don't control their dogs or even care that their dog is terrorizing the neighborhood. In fact, in most place, the dogs shouldn't be running around loose. Animal control needs to take this seriously. Thank you for taking the time and putting yourself in jeopardy to rescue the little guy. Kudos to your helpers too. I am so sorry Woody had to be put to sleep. His family must be devastated.
