I'm the secretary for my church (I've been going since the Thursday before Easter.) I am the only person employed by the church other than the pastor so I have a lot of duties, but I get paid very well for a secretary and I really don't mind having a lot of responsibilities. I enjoyed my first day on the job.

But not for the church I belonged to (Church of the Brethren), but for the Presbyterian Church in town. They hired outside their church as they thought it would be easier to fire someone who wasn't a member.
I never thought much about it until more than 6 years later, and the current pastor (the pastor when I started there retired, and they had three interim pastors before finally hiring a new full-time pastor) fired me. No warning. And the Monday before Christmas to boot!! He was weird to work for though. I'd had a great working relationship with all the other pastors, and they each gave me glowing yearly-reports, but not this one. I have to admit it hurt when he fired me, but I took great satisfaction in seeing "secretary wanted" at the Presby church in the local newspaper every 3-4 months for about 3 years!!
