2. No, I am not.
One is illegal and injures a child and one does not.
A child cannot give consent.

discernment said:lisalovespooh, then if children can not give consent we better start arresting alot of them for committing rape when they have sex with one another or the 19 year old that has sex with a 15 or 16 year old. But thats another topic about laws that arent enforced.

Your command of the legal system is most impressive.
There isn't ONE case of statutory rape...anywhere, is there?
Wow!
Oh enlightened one--do teach us more about the legal system and how you can equate a consenting homosexual relationship with raping a 5 year old.
Please--share.
We will await your astounding legal expertise...
You want to be upset that the church promoted homosexual relationships (or whatever they did...) that is fine.
You are entitled to your opinion.
But faking your knowledge of the legal system is a very very sad way to defend your position.
And using innocent victims to define why homosexuality should be wrong...must be sad to stoop so low.![]()

discernment said:oh, look out for your shifting position. First you say children cant give consent and now you redefine that. Can children give consent or cant they?

I think most people of common intellect see the difference between a "child" and someone who's legally a "minor". Which is why most people see a statutory rape case involving a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old ridiculous.discernment said:oh, look out for your shifting position. C'mon, eclectics, you're not up for a rousing rendition of "My Religion's Better Than Your Religion"?eclectics said:Seems to me, unless you are an Episcopalian, your "outrage" would be better aimed at something you disagree with in your own denomination. I'm sure the Episcopalians can work this out without outside distractions. If the end result is a split, so be it. Christianity has many denominations. There is one for everyone. If yours shares your outrage, fine. If not, I respectfully suggest you find one that better fits your beliefs. Not all Christians believe the way you do. If you don't like that, I'm sorry, but there really isn't much you can do about it.
