I have a new Hibiscus plant and it has been so dry here in Michigan! I have been watering it thinking I was helping it along. Well, the leaves are yellow ( a third of them anyway). Doesn't this plant like water?? Thanks for any help.:D

Hi Faith! :D

Are the leaves falling off too? I found the following info on a Hibiscus site.

When a hibiscus plant dries out to the point where the leaves wilt for more than one day, the leaves will dry up and fall off; however these leaves will grow back rapidly. Dropping leaves is a method the plants use to reduce moisture loss.

I'm not sure if that's what's wrong with your plant, but maybe one of our Hibiscus growing Buds will have an answer for you.

Faith, I have the same problem here but I noticed a couple days ago that I have several new healthy looking buds on the plant. Its also a hibiscus I planted this year. So far mine are slowly perking up. I have no idea what the yellow leaves are from but the plant is still doing well. Susan

Thanks for the help. The plant is hanging in there, but still has the cycle of yellow leaves and then they fall off. The blooms haven't been great either. This dry, hot Michigan weather isn't helping.:(
