I've been so busy at work and school I failed to verify all my paperwork and realized yesterday that I never got my magical express booklet and tags. I called and since I'm arriving Monday they won't mail it out. I will have a place on the bus they just won't take my bag. I wanted them to take the bag with water and other goodies cause it's heavy and I will traveling alone with my son. I'm a little bummed.....

:sad2:

Edited: opps maybe I didn't screw up as bad as I thought I found this on another post
"You can still take advantage of luggage transfers without using the yellow tags. Just proceed directly to Welcome Center and give them your claim tickets. (Be advised, luggage transfers will take slightly more time than usual)"

question how do they find my bag? Will it be circling the luggage claim area for a long time until they pick it up? I have one bag I want to take on the bus and one I do not because it will be too heavy. Do I go get the bag I want to take on the bus then go to the Express counter and give them the tag for the one I don't want to carry with me?

When you get to the DME checkin counter, give them your baggage claim ticket, as well as a description of your bag. They will send a CM to baggage claim to get it. If you head directly to DME after deplaning, your bag shouldn't spend much time at all on the baggage carousel.

K I guess the problem is I have one bag I want to go get from baggage claim and one I want Magical express to pick up. Should I go straight to the ME counter or to baggage claim. The bag I want claimed by magical express is only water and some snacks.

Thanks :thumbsup2

My suggestion would be to get the bag you're taking with you first, then proceed to ME. Along with giving them your baggage claim ticket it might be helpful if you marked your bag in some way (bright multi-color ribbons, etc.) Something to make your bag distinctive. Some on this board have even suggested giving them a photo along with the description of the bag.

Fantastic I was thinking about doing that, attaching a photo. Thanks so much now I'm not as worried.

Would it totally screwed stuff up if I put an old tag on it and blacked out the scanned part and wrote what resort it was going to? I have one left over from my January trip.... (I bet this would be worst huh....?)

Attach a photo? No. Take a photo and hand it to the CM at the Welcome Center? Yes. And if you want to take a strip of sturdy yellow paper about the same dimension and tone as a DME tag, and attach that around the handle of your luggage, that would make more sense than using an old DME tag.

But, why not let DME take ALL your luggage?

Nothing prevents you from using an old yellow tag or making a facsimile with the latest arrival date and the name of the latest resort on it.

The only question is whether the CM's at the unclaimed baggage section would be confused not finding it because it was already sent to WDW.

The most important part of verifying non-yellow tagged baggage in the unclaimed area is not taking non-Disney baggage out of the airport without permission.

The problem with using an old yellow tag is that all the important and necessary info is in the bar code. When they grab that bag, with the old tag on it, they will scan it and see that it is no longer valid. Even if you scratch stuff out. If someone has made a change to resort or date, but notified DME of the changes after they received their tags, then they can scratch out the old info and put in the new...the bar code will scan and bring up the new info. It will be the same bar code in the system. But not if you use an old tag. So.....put something bold/bright on your luggage that you want them to pick up. When DME first started, I hadn't gotten my packet with tags in it and it was the day before we were to leave. So...I got some blanket binding in bright turquoise, with Winnie-the-Pooh all over it. Then I sewed lime green grosgrain ribbon all along one side of the binding, and then tied a long strip to each of my checked bags, then took a photo of each bag. Wouldn't you know it...as soon as I had printed out the photos, the FedEx guy came with my packet!!!! But, if the tags hadn't come, I could have given the DME people my claim checks along with a photo of my bags to make it easier for them to find.

If you want to have one bag with you, head to baggage claim and get it. Then, go to DME counter and checkin and tell them you have a bag to be gotten at baggage claim. Give them your claim receipt, being sure they realize they are looking for just one bag, not the two.

I made my own yellow tags for my first ME trip (the tags never made it to me), and gave a copy of it to the DME desk, they thought it was great idea. I did a long strip and put a mickey head on it, my resort name, my first initial and last name and DME and Room reservation numbers, and my bags were in my room faster then my second trip when I had real DME tags.

Your Disney’s Magical Express reservation has been made; however, you may not receive your Disney’s Magical
Express booklet with luggage tags prior to departure for Orlando. Please be assured that you will still be able to
utilize the service and receive the same seamless experience.
Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you have two options:
1) You can pick up your luggage at baggage claim and proceed directly to the Disney
Welcome Center. You will be responsible for taking your luggage with you on the
motor coach.
2) Or you may proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center. You do not need to claim
your luggage. Disney will gather all of your information and collect your luggage for
you and then deliver it to your resort room.
IMPORTANT: Please pack any valuables, medications or anything needed immediately upon arrival into Orlando in
a carry-on bag.
Arrival at Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival, please take the tram from your gate to the main Terminal
and proceed to the Disney Welcome Center which is located on the B Side on Level 1 and bypass baggage claim.
If you arrive on the A Side, please proceed to the B Side before taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1.
You may follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim checks to the Disney representative
to confirm the number of bags* checked as well as your return flight information. You will then board a
complimentary motor coach that will take you to your resort. Your motor coach may make up to 3 stops before
arriving at your resort.
Luggage delivery to the resort. Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered to your room. Your
luggage may take up to 3 hours after you check-in to be delivered. You do not need to be in your room to receive
your luggage. Please note if you take your luggage on the motor coach it will not automatically be delivered to
your room.
Returning home. You will receive a Transportation Notice the day prior to check-out advising you of your motor
coach pick-up time and other general information. Your motor coach pick-up time is based on your
flight departure and will be approximately 3 hours prior to that time to allow for multiple stops by
the motor coaches.
Resort Airline Check-In Service. Upon departure, you may take advantage of Disney’s
complimentary Resort Airline Check-In Service for participating airlines. You can check
your luggage and receive your airline boarding pass at your Disney resort so there is
no need to check-in at the airport.
