I remember most of them !

My biggest favourite was nutty logs, that was in the days when chocolate was sold unwrapped :)

I remember nutty logs Jan, they were lovely:thumbsup2

What a great thread, by the way some smaller shops around here still close half day on a Wednesday:)

There's a sweet shop in a village called Pately Bridge in North Yorkshire that's the oldest sweet shop in Yorkshire or Britain (or something) and it still sells all the old fashioned sweets you use to get in jars...you know... the ones you use to ask for a quarter of, like midget gems or sherbet pips....that kind of thing (yes::yes:: i know I'm rambling!). We try to go in the summer because DH likes those alphabet letters.

Does anyone remember Chelsea Whoppers?
A shop in the town next to us started selling them, they are half the size and don't taste so good:sad2:

I loved to walk to our sweet shop in the summer and get either a Lord Toffingham or a proper fab ice lolly or from the ice cream van a screwball.

They seem like good memories but I am so pleased that we now have laptops (how would me and dd manage without dissing) and also I can't imagine what I would do if my dd did not have her mobile. I know I used to go for miles and my mum never knew where I was and I used to say the phone box wasn't working or I didn't have 2p.

Remember when you used to put your money in the phone box and the pips went beep beep and you had to put your money in.

Also no one went to Disneyland well not anyone we knew! Alton towers was just a park and Chessington was a zoo.

No I don't wish for the old days. I love being here on the dis with you all.
(i did go on the CB but you used to have to live in a tower block to get a good signal with your magmount on a biscuit tin)

Did anyone see the program last week about 'Jackie' the teen girlie magazine from the 70's/80's? Now that brought back loads of memories. I couldn't wait to get the Bay City Rollers pinned up on my wall :rotfl: and my sister was mad on David Cassidy. I never got to knit that 'egg & bacon' hat though:eek:

My mum and dad kept a load of the jackie mags and i read them all again a couple of years ago it was great. especially the cathy and claire pages and the readers true stories.

O I loved the Jackie. Mind you I loved all mags, and still do!

I had Twinkle I think and later Jackie and Fab208.
