I never hear from my guide. Is this common?

I read where some people have these great relationships with theirs. I didn't even hear from mine when VGF went on sale

I'd love to be contacted and hear any special Pily offers. Is this common? Do I have a crap guide? Can I get a new one?

We bought on site at BWV Dec 2011 when HS was too insane and we needed some air. We had recently had an extended member tragedy and were at DW decompressing. It was one of those moments and I never thought DH would say YES but it was him who had to convince me. So we were right there. Very personable very raw. Just curious.

Bought AKV direct in 2011. Haven't heard from my Guide since - I always assumed that there would be no reason to speak to him again unless I was planning on purchasing more points.

Now I'm curious, is there some reason I should be in regular contact with my Guide?

I think I've been contacted once when my original guide retired/moved to a different job? I think I've also gotten some mail from a guide after I took a friend in to sit through the 'would you like to buy' spiel. Other than that, I occasionally get mail that I've always assumed everyone got announcing new offers, expiration of current offers, etc. Since I can't afford to buy more points the lack of contact is fine by me.

I never hear from mine, either. Just as well, I'd only really need a guide to buy more points, and I have enough for my needs.

I never hear from my guide even when trying to buy points it's hard to get them.

I only hear from my guide when we reach out to him.... then he always has called back, but never initiated the call.

I haven't talked to mine since the day I bought 13 years ago. I have no clue if she's even still there. Which is just fine with me. If I'm interested in adding on, I'll call them. I'd be really, seriously annoyed if they called me on a regular basis, trying to sell me more points. Because, honestly, that's the only reason they'd call. They're salespeople. They get paid to sell points. Even if seems like a 'great relationship', they're trying to sell points.

I don't think guides typically call members to try to solicit sales. I routinely get e-mails when there's a special offer, or a price increase is coming up, or a new resort is going on sale. Make sure you're signed up for those.

Another one here, who has never spoken to our guide since our original purchase. I think that's more the norm than it is to have contact with them.

Guides are timeshare sellers, if they think that you are a buyer, they will contact you. If they don't think that you are, they don't have the time to contact you. My understanding is that they have some sort of prospect software to point them to buyers.

You also have to give permission for them to contact you, there are timeshare selling laws that have to be followed. You can change your contact preference online under your member profile.

Sooo strange to find out I am in the minority. Every time we visit our guide leaves a voicemail message on the room phone! I know she is only trying to sell us more points but it's always a nice touch. Plus my husband will tell you that it's because she knows I'm an easy sell! I always have addonitis!!!

I've only been a member for just over a year. I bought resale and then contacted my guide for a VGF add on. Since then I have only heard from him once. I stayed at VGF earlier this month, and he left me a nice voicemail on the room phone. I'm perfectly happy with not receiving any solicitation calls.

We have kept in touch with our guide off and on through the years...we bought in 2001. It's not something I've really kept track of. Early on we always had at minimum a voice mail left on our DVC room phone if she didn't catch us in the room when she called. We've always had a good relationship with her and did add on once after our initial purchase....not because she was calling us....but because we realized we needed some more points to vacation the way we wanted. I hadn't talked with her in maybe two years and when we were there in January I did give her a call...we talked for a few minutes...about our kids and grandkids!

I have never heard from my guide since we bought in 2005. I always thought it was because I was in Canada and he couldn't see me anything. I don't even remember his name anymore...

we bought resale and only added on last September at VGF. We are staying for the first time at VGF in October and I am kinda hoping we get a little message from him, am I sad? mind you, I would be an easy sell right now as we stayed at another new resort in march and totally fell in love... must. not. buy. any. more. points.....

We bought in 2008 and occasionally got a postcard about offers that were going out. A month or so ago we got a note from our new guide--don't know if the other guy left or retired. We have no need for points so probably won't need to hear from him anymore.

We were assigned a guide when we inquired via phone about DVC 6 or 7 yrs. ago. We ended up buying resale (twice) but we still get promotional postcards and an occasional letter from our assigned guide. If we were going to buy direct, I'd definitely contact him. I expect we'll hear from him again when Poly is available.

We hear from our guide from time to time. Mostly when the promotional stuff is sent out. Bought both direct and resale.
