I never hear from my guide. Is this common?

The only time I've heard from guides is when I'm assigned a new one. They call to get a sense of if I would be interested in adding points, I always say no and never hear from them again. I find out about any offers here.

We never hear from our guide either.

Earlier this year we stayed on a friend's points. There was a message on thie answering machine from her guide welcoming her home and hoping the trip goes well.

Well maybe they're lurking in the boards because out of the clear blue I got a call from my guide today.
First a woman calls and says she's with DVC and wanted me to know that I gad a new guide. Then she puts him on the line.
All he did was introduce himself. So I asked what were BLT points going for now $162! I asje what do you get for the extra money instead of buying resale. Ability to use points for cruises and at other Disney hotels.
That was it.
If I hadn't asked him anything he would have hung up. Not that I want to be bugged by even more sales calls, but why bother calling in the first place?

Nope, our original guide left the company several years ago and we got another one assigned and then she left too and honestly I am not sure who ours is now.

I think I get mailers about trying to sell addon points but that is about it.

You were called because you were assigned a new Guide. The woman's job is to make first contact, you don't waste the Guides time getting voice mails or wrong numbers. Once you mentioned resale, your prospect classification was changed and you probably won't get many calls.

many guides actually work off site from their homes I noticed some time after our original guild left DVC the next one called once and never again we were thinking of buying more points and called in another guild was assisted to us he called and we told him we were at the talking stage of purchasing he never called back so last time we were at Disney we walked in and was assisted an awesome guy and we ended up walking out with another 100+ from SSR so we have been happy with him but again we have not heard anything from him but it has been less them 3 months. But my point was several guilds work privately from home.

Sooo strange to find out I am in the minority. Every time we visit our guide leaves a voicemail message on the room phone! I know she is only trying to sell us more points but it's always a nice touch. Plus my husband will tell you that it's because she knows I'm an easy sell! I always have addonitis!!!

Ours did too! We bought 12 years ago, and our guide called us every time we visited WDW for almost 10 years. Past tense-DID call. A few months ago we got a call from someone introducing herself as our new guide. "Oh", I said, "You must have taken over for [former guide]". "No, he left for a different division several years ago, you had a new guide in between, but now he's left also." So for a few years, we had a guide we didn't even know about! It remains to be seen how this guide is-I've already noticed, though, that she did send us the DVC mailer about the upcoming increase in points. Maybe that will be the total of her involvement.

We went on a cruise in February and were told that AK was just about sold out. We had just gotten off a fabulous stay at AKL and were wondering about points. We set up an appointment to speak with Ricardo about it. He told us our guide had left (we purchased in November - only 3 months earlier). We expressed interest in adding on and he said he'd get back to us the next week. Never heard from him. Never purchased more points either.

The first 3 years we were members I'd have said that we didn't hear from our guide either.

We really enjoyed our first guide. She only called us with something she knew we'd be interested and she always returned phone calls. After she retired occasionally we'd get some random call I guess because we bought both our contracts direct and were still low in points (comparatively). Finally one of the random calls was from our present guide who said he picked us up because he was originally from our area. He calls every visit and for our anniversary 2013 he had Minnie and Mickie call us with the anniversary song - that was cute. It was to his benefit because by that time we finally were ready to purchase more points. He continues to call each visit (we go 2 or 3 times a year) and i think 2015 we'll add on either at the Poly or more BC points. We've emailed him our interest in Poly.

We have had several guides over the years. Our original guide left soon after we purchased 10 years ago. In the interim, we had two female guides, who would be sure to call every time we stayed at Disney. They were a delight to deal with. Now we have a male guide, who, despite the fact that I make all the reservations, and am listed first on our membership, calls to speak to my husband. I was once very direct with him, last January, 2013, and told him that I usually make all our reservations, but, if he wants to speak to my husband, he can do so. Handed the phone over to my husband, who reiterated the same information. Haven't heard from him since. For all I know, he is no longer with DVC either.

joan hill is our guide, and she does the same.

we bought our first DVC contract in jan 1999 (added 2 more in the few years following), have gone thru many, many guides. aside from our 2nd guide, joan is the only other that has contacted us without a lengthy sales spiel attached.

we enjoy the "welcome home, S... Family!!" voicemail :thumbsup2

My guide has called me EVERY trip we have taken since 2009. He also called me last week to see how my resale purchase went. He even said I got such a great deal. I then told him I plan to buy Poly so he put my name down on his list of people to contact when they go on sale.

My guide is great.

Oh and he sounds like Jiminy Cricket... lol no joke he does.

What is this mythical guide you speak of?

We have received the "welcome home" message in the past and was actually looking forward to it a few weeks ago but nope! Just a call from the front desk.

When we purchased we had an AMAZING guide. She's not with the company any more and I miss her lots. I have no idea who my new guide is. Never heard from them.
I was spoiled because I purchased at a Doorway to Dreams location and could go and visit my guide and trade pins and talk Disney whenever I needed a fix. I probably annoyed her from time to time but she never let me know it. I see her from time to time now and she still manages to make my day more magical.
If you're reading this, Hi!!

Before she left I would have only bought direct through her. Now I probably wouldn't even consider buying direct.
