My DS14 is driving me crazy! At least once a day, he insists that I said something I know I didn't. Today, I was trying to show him an exercise for his back that I saw online -- you put your hands on a wall and bend at the waist slowly until your head reaches the wall. I told him not to keep his back flat and incline toward the wall (like a vertical pushup). When he got up for something, I suggested he try this exercise -- and of course, he was doing the vertical pushup. When I tried to show him the correct way, he loudly insisted that I had told him to do it that way! We go through this all the time, and I finally exploded and told him that I am not going senile, that I know what I told him and he always twists whatever it is to go his way. I'm sick of it! Anybody else go through this? Short of tape recording everything I say to him and playing it back, any suggestions? He's a very willful, stubborn child, and he makes me nuts for many reasons, but this is driving me crazy!

Thanks for listening. And I didn't say that he is an angel child. And don't do the vertical pushups.

My son does this to me also. It is maddening. I think it may be part of some undercover plot that is being undertaken by millions of children across this nation in order to take control of the Crunchberries factory and have it only produce Crunchberries and none of those yellow square things. Call me crazy, but the signs are all there. It's the only thing that makes any sense at all.

There is nothing we can do about it. When they start to become teenagers, they know everything and are always right. They don't become senile like us until they have their own kids. But then, we have the joy of watching them suffer the same mental anguish that they put us through.

But I like the Crunchberries things. Why would you get rid of the Crunchberries and keep only those icky yellow square things?

Yes, that's exactly what you said. Get rid of the Crunchberries, you said, I heard you loud and clear. You must be deaf AND senile. Now I'm going to storm off.

OMG :scared1:
My ds-11 does this to me ALL THE TIME.
My dd-16, doesn't, just my ds.
I use to think I was really starting to go crazy and maybe I did/didn't say someting since he tells me so convincingly.
Thank you for letting me know I am not alone.
He really does this to me all the time!!!

Here's my take on it: At that age they all have pudding for brains. Put a dollop of cool whip on his head, top with a cherry, and hand him a copy of US! magazine.

Yeah, there is something you can do about it...leave the room. Every time this happens, leave the room. If you absolutely can't leave then refuse to speak again. They can't fight with you if you refuse to fight. It might take a little time but they will come to realize you mean business. It is very impowering to watch them try to engage you and you just smile at them and look away.

Oh yeah, next time they need something, a ride to a friends, money for a movie, etc, become deaf. Really, don't allow them to treat you this way or it will never end.

I did this and it has worked for me. I STILL have 2 sons ages 22 and 24 here. I can't stand them a lot of the time but it is too cold to kick them out and they would starve right now. We all have kid problems. I just wonder when it will end?

I think it is male oriented thing, practicing to be a HUSBAND! :rotfl2: I get this from 2 sons and one dh.

My senility is heriditary, I get it from my kids
