I need something closer than Hojo's...

I know it's not that far, but at the end of the day, with several exhausted kids I want something closer.

I just need a comfortable bed, clean room and a short walk. Suggestions?

The absolute closest is Best Western Park Place Inn. It is right at the crosswalk.

Fairfield? We've stayed there a few times and it was always clean and comfortable. Did HoJos the last few trips, and as much as I love it, that walk back is LONG at night. Think we will give Fairfield another try next time. Just make sure you don't have a room near the front entrance. People will be arriving all night long and parking out there and it is loud.

We liked the Fairfield as well. I agree about the walk back at night. It was a killer after you've been on your feet all day.

The Fairfield is almost as far as Hojo's.

I would strongly suggest the BWPPI if you want a shorter walk. Or CCI if you can work with their shuttles every 30 minutes.

We have stayed at Desert Inn and Suites. It was fine...clean and VERY close. It's right at the crosswalk. The pool is my only complaint. It was pretty gross.

We have also stayed at Desert Inn and Suites. Very big rooms and good rates if you book early (4 queens for $99). The indoor pool is odd but my kids loved it. (BTW - I am also Todd's wife )

Just another endorsement for BWPPI! It is at the crosswalk, clean, relatively good breakfast. The short walk was so nice!

We have stayed at HOJOs (2) and liked it.

We have been to the BWPPI, Desert Inn and Suites (2), and Camelot (2). Those are all very close. We also were at the Tropicana once - and thought it was a slight step down from the others. I like to take a bath - and my youngest daughter really doesn't shower yet. And at the Tropicana we ended up in a shower only room. But if the price was right we would stay there again - I would just recommend others above it.

If $$$ is no object - the GCH is the best . We got $200 a night after 9-11 when they were hurting for tourists.

And a previous poster mentioned CCI. That is where we stayed last visit. The shuttle ended up being really nice. We walk a lot - so I figured we would end up walking to or from the hotel at some point - but the shuttle always worked out for us.

NOT if you get the wrong wrong room like we did. As far, to get to the center of the esplanade, from our room as to the sidewalk outside HoJo.

We recommend the Tropicana. Ask for the 3rd floor, and you'll get a great view of the fireworks. They also have a really nice pool and hot tub. Right across from the walk way to DL. We did hojo once, and the walk was a bit much for us once we were tired with hurting feet.

Agreed.

Occasionally when we want to be real close we stay at BWPII or the park vue.

But the Fairfield has the most comfortable beds ( IMO... they are latex ) and is a little more of a 'hotel' as opposed to a 'motel'. It also has 'business class' internet if you require it.

It is just a couple minutes from the crosswalk.

HoJos, in reality, is only about 5 minutes more then the fairfield but when you have tired feet, a bad back and are carrying a toddler it seems like a mile more.

Candy Cane is a nice hotel. It is as far from the cross walk as HoJos but has a shuttle so you can decide how to get back.
