I'm trying to figure out if it would be better for us to rent points or not.
This is what we have booked right now with
AAA:
2 Rooms Pop Century
7 day Hoppers w/ water park options
Dining Plan
Family of 5
August 27-September 3
Currently paying $3356
Would I get a better deal with renting
dvc? I'm so confused
Hmm - deal is subjective. There will be trade offs. PC is a value resort, and DVC are deluxes - so that alone is a consideration. Are you staying 7 or 8 nights? Now for the $$:
2 rooms PC (2 brs, 2 baths) becomes a 2 BR DVC at Saratoga Springs (most likely available there on this shorter notice) with full kitchen:
155 points for 8/27 - 8/31 = $1550 @ $10 per points
135 points for 9/1 - 9/3 = $1350 (cheaper season, expensive nights)
Total Accommodations = $2880.
Then factor in 7 day hoppers with options and dining for your groups age range.
Financially, you're likely ahead with the AAA package. You could shave $$ by staying in 2 studios, but you get 1 bed and sleeper sofa per studio and not full kitchen, just fridge, coffee, microwave, and toaster.
The studios would be:
8/27 - 8/31 = 60 points each or $1200 total.
9/1 - 9/3 = 51 points each or $1020 total.
Total 2 studios for 8 nights: $2220.
Then, it might be worth considering DVC. Studios don't connect to one another - but you could request the same general area.
Caveats: assumes $10 per points, could be $11. Assumes Saratoga Springs, which is further out. Might get Boardwalk, Beach Club, or Wilderness Lodge Villas, but the cost would be a little more.
You might fit into a 1 BR (parents in BR, 2 young kids sharing sleeper sofa, infant in crib) if that fits your age ranges, but the cost will be similar to 2 studios.
Hope this helps.
