I need help with limewire

whats p2p i have heard of it.. and are the songs free and copatable with itunes or an ipod??

P2P is short for "peer to peer". It's basically like...one person has one song, and another wants to download it, so the person who has the song shares it with the one who wants it. It's free, the best example I can think of is Soulseek. It's like limewire in a way. Yeah, the songs are compatible with iTunes as long as the filename ends in .mp3.

lol you people are crazy!! its just songs! its not like i am doing anything bad to anyone.. i am just downloading songs and u guys are making a huge deal out of it!! geeze

I only use p2p when I can't find the track anywhere elsewhere, and these would include b-sides and rarities. Sometimes I'll download a song by an artist to try them out and see if I like them. Also, 13 bucks for a CD? If so, where? CD's are base-priced at 18.99 now, which is ludicrous. I would hate to see the day, however, when all music goes digital. Really, there is nothing better than waiting for an album, and then getting your hands on the PHYSICAL release. You know, listening to the songs while you look at the artwork and read over the lyrics? Nothing better, really. iTunes isn't a horrible program, it's wonderful for sorting out music files. While I may not download much from their store, it really is a good file sorter.

However, in the long run, who really loses when you don't pay for the music you download? I'm not talking about laws, I'm talking about your opinion. It's not the big companies, or the big artists/bands. No, honestly it's the little bands that lose the most money. And as these bands get sifted out because they don't make money, honestly, what will we have left? The same over-produced crap they play on the radio.

ETA: Also, I cannot believe you compared RIAA laws to black & white segregation. That was really stupid.
Shows how long its been sense Ive boughten a CD. I dont care about some stupid cover art or lyrics I just want music I can listen to. Foobar is the best program out for anything related to music on computers.

Who loses in the long run? Stupid bands who only care about money. If they really liked the music they would play it without caring about selling CDs. Bands make more money from touring and merch anyways. If all a band cares about is making money then they dont really care about the music.

I wasnt comapring the actual laws to each other. I was just saying that saying all the laws in place are good for everyone then you really need to think more.

Bwahah. Telling me to think more. Chriiist.

So a band that doesn't make money off their music is going to be able to create music regardless? Doesn't work that way, they need money to be able to record for studio time, or to buy a studio, or to get some new instruments, or to be able to tour, or to be able to put out their CD's, or to be able to create the merchandise, etc. The list goes on and on.

Sorry, I enjoy supporting a band by buying the physical release, it's probably different for you. Also, low-quality mp3's are annoying, CD quality is better. In all honesty, if you can pay for the CD, buy it. If you want one or two songs, then go ahead. You're not getting the full experience though.

I am kind of glad that the law is in place though, it serves as a standard to protect the no name artists who NEED that money to be able to live.

I wasnt telling you to think more I was refering to the person, but you do too.:thumbsup2
How could the band be able to release the CD in the first place unless they had enough money to get the studio. Most musicians only jobs arent just the there band. The only ones that have that privalege are the extremely rich ones.

If you know what youre doing you can get sound quality vey close to CD quality, so close you cant tell the difference. If you put an entire CD on 1 disk and put no space inbetween songs most people wont notice the difference if its at the standard 128.

Like I said prevously, band members only jobs arent just the band.

Or you could just learn how to spell and phrase things right...:thumbsup2

Uh...the band would send the CD in to a label as a demo, get picked up by the label, and get studio time. It's not that hard to figure out. You don't feel like you should support an artist you like, eh?

I can definitely tell the difference between 128kbps and FLAC. How can one not? Though, if you rip the CD to the computer at 192, then it's pretty hard to tell.

Look, all I'm saying is that you should pay for what you consume. If you don't have the money, fine. But if you do have the money, support them.

how come oxygen should be regarded as a drug?? i dont get it.. it say it on ur avitar thing bellhop
