We're leaving on April 30th, staying in a 1BR for 4 nights/5 days. I couldn't be more excited. I want to pack somewhat lightly, so I need to know what I should bring. We have an 8 month old, and a 27 month old.

- Have any of you used the babysitting service? It seems to be pretty pricy, and I'm not sure what to expect as far as a sitter?

- Should I bring floaties, or do they have them available to rent/borrow?

- Do I need to bring beach toys, or are some available to buy/rent?

- What have some of you with infants/toddlers done about high chairs? My 8 month old usually eats in a high chair. I'm not bringing one for sure, but just curious what you have done.

- What is available at the resort store? SHould I do my grocery shopping there, or should I venture out to a traditional grocery store the first day?

- Should I bring swim diapers and regular diapers, or are they available at the resort "grocery" store?

- Should I bring laundry detergent?

- What have you guys done about beach chairs? Are they rentable?

Any other words of advice for us would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bridget

We don't have children - so I can't help you with those questions...

But I can tell you - the grocery selection is pretty limited. Similar to a convenient store - at similar prices.

If you have transportation, there's a Publix less than 10 minutes away...

And you "can" rent beach loungers out on the pier - along with other things such as jet skis. I don't believe they rented beach "toys," though...

Have a wonderful trip - we love Vero!

I don't have kids either but can comment on the groceries and laundry.

All the DVC convenience stores do indeed have a limited selection, as Beth mentioned. They will have some diapers but it would be best to do a shopping trip outside the Resort and buy your supplies there. Use the DVC store for emergencies or if you forget something.

As for laundry detergent, yes bring extra. You will likely get one "starter" box of detergent. That won't be enough for a family. Bring along some detergent tabs and softener sheets. They are easy to carry and no risk of spills.

The resort will let you use one of the restaurant-style high chairs for the room.

As for floaties, they had a baby float my son used (but I had to point it out to the CM, she didn't know they had it.) But I'm not sure you can count on that. You might want to bring your own.

They sell swim diapers, but they are in individual packs. It's more economical to bring your own, or do a short shopping trip to a Publix when you get there. The store there is quite small and more for backup purpose.

It's a beautiful resort. You'll love it.
