A sweet cold duck is always nice.

It's bubbly and easy to drink...it also doesn't cost a lot.

You could also go with a non alcoholic bubbly like a simple bottle of sparkling catabwa juice. We kids used to THINK we were getting sloshed...when in fact it was alcohol-free. LOL

I love a great champagne!!!
Try this link. You should expect to pay at least
$30 and I'd go for the even higher priced bottles
if $$ is not an object. Laurent Perrier or Perrier Jouet
are good. It needs to be French. A bottle of Moet et Chandon
White Star is always good too-good champagne makes
me laugh. It should be dry, at the very least be bottled
by the methode champenoise (turned by the kick and IN
the bottle you buy it). Korbel Naturel at the very least
but some think it's a bit bitter. See a good wine purveyor
now-this week-while the rush isn't so heavy and they'll
give you some direction. Differnt things make noses turn-
are you entertaining someone who would know good
champagne or do you need something sweet for a
newbie?

I always end up buying a few bottles and drink to
the New Year often in January! Take a good look
at the Laurent Perrier Rose - I love the pinks, they're fun!
Happy New Year!

Asti Spumante. Or any Spumante I guess. IF I'm going to drink that stuff (wine OR champagne), it better be this stuff.

Very grape-tasting, sweet, imo. And, can be purchased inexpensively, I think.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! ;)

I agree with Kim, Linda. I have a glass or two a year and Asti is my choice. 'Regular' champagnes, for me, are way to dry and do 'wrinkle my nose', LOL. A good, reasonably priced, and readily available brand is Gancia.
