It seems odd to me, but I have never made a pasta salad or a cold potato dish ( I assume that's what is meant, anyway.) Anyone have one you love?

yes, I have one that everyone loves when I make it! it is easy and cheap to make!! you can adjust with anything you like!

I use one box of small bow tie pasta
4 plum tomatos chopped very tiny along with onion, red and green pepper
I make sure it is very colorful!

Then I add Kraft Italian dressing ~ the Robust flavor
I also like to add pieces of chunk cheese! I have also added olives!

very easy and yummy!!

I usually have a bowl of this in the fridge all summer long. You can use any kind of pasta.

The only cold potato dish I know of is potato salad. It isn't hard but it takes time.

I don't have a recipe, per se but do make cold salads from potatoes or pasta (when asked to do so... party hosts, family etc.).

We prefer salad nicoise which includes potatoes, green beans, egg, anchovies, tuna, etc. It's not a mayonnaise laden sort of thing.

The pasta salad on the other hand is. ::yes:: Choose your pasta shape (small shells, rings, elbows, ect. - any small shape seems to work best) and cook enough for the dish. (Usually up to one pound, sometimes more, but sometimes less). We use whole wheat usually.

To the cooked pasta I add boiled potatoes, sometimes drained albacore tuna, herbs and spices that will compliment the choice of ingredients. Celery, grated onion (we don't like to bite into chunks of raw onion in a pasta salad for some odd reason) and a dressing base of mayonnaise, and roughly one to two teaspoons of ketchup and dijon mustard. Add or subtract ingredients as you please. We sometimes add green olives, sometimes replace the tuna with chicken (breast) or shrimp...

A salad like that really is a matter of personal taste and whatever you please! Just make sure whatever you put in compliments the other ingredients and go from there! ::yes::

I make the pasta salad recipe that is on the Salad Supreme seasoning bottle, its a favorite around here. Its basically like what the pp posted except you add the seasong, and any veggies you like.

I took this to a carry in last week and everyone seemed to like it.

Broccoli pasta salad

Ingredients
· 6 slices bacon
· 20 ounces fresh cheese-filled tortellini
· 1 cup mayonnaise
· 1/2 cup white sugar
· 4 teaspoons cider vinegar
· 2-3 heads fresh broccoli, cut into florets
· 1 cup raisins
· 1 cup sunflower seeds
· ½ cup red onion, finely chopped
Directions
Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble and set aside. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook tortellini in boiling water for about 5 minutes or until al dente. Drain, and rinse under cold water. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sugar and vinegar to make the dressing. In a large bowl, combine broccoli, tortellini, bacon, raisins, sunflower seeds and red onion. Pour ½ dressing over salad, and toss. Mix in the other half of the dressing just before serving.

Any kind of pasta (cooked)
Pepperoni (chopped, minis, whatever you have)
Shredded cheddar cheese
Italian dressing

You could add tomatoes, celery, etc..... just about anything you like.

Easy!!!

If I was asked to bring a "pasta or potato dish" I would assume they meant a hot dish. Did they say "salad?" If not, I would assume they want a hot dish.

I swear by Suddenly Salad original pasta salad. Easy to make and tastes great. It's my "go to" box when I have short notice and need to bring a pasta dish.

I have a great potato salad recipe:

1) Go to grocery store

2) Sample all the pasta salads in the deli case

3) Buy either the tastiest one, or the cheapest one, depending on how much you like the people you're serving it to.

Sorry, I'm no use at all, am I?
