Ok, here's the scenario.... Let's say that you own 3 different contracts at the same resort. 1 is 270 points and 2 of them are 50 points each, all of them are the same use year. You have a reservation for using some of the points from the 270 point contract coming up in the summer, but you want to sell the larger contract and just keep the small ones. If you were to sell the larger contract prior to using those points for your reserved vaction:
A.) Would you forfeit that reservation or can you keep it selling the contract less the points because you already own 2 other contracts at the same resort with the same use year?
B.) If you just sold the larger contract would your smaller ones be affected in any way, like any lose of member benefits, etc.?

Yes, you would forfiet your initial reservation. I believe DVC will automatically cancel any revservations that is being sold. If you have enough points with the two smaller contracts, you can switch the points for the reservation.

No, the two smaller contracts are not affected by the sale of the original contract.

You could just put the big contract on the market after your trip, if time is not an issue.

Depending on how many points are available in the smaller contracts, including possible borrowing, as mentioned, you might be able to reallocate the points that were used for your planned vacation.


EG, say the reservation required 150 points. You have full points in the smaller contracts. You borrow 50 small contract points, so combined with the 100 regular points in the small contract, reallocate the current reservation to use those points instead of the points from the larger contract. You can then sell the larger contract without affecting your vacation. Keep in mind this would then make your larger contract a little more valuable as it would have more points.

When you sell, any reservation made with points from the contract being sold would be cancelled. You cannot sell a contract and keep the existing reservation.

Your other choice would be to wait until after your vacation, and then sell the contract.

I think you can list the contract for sale with the stipulation that it cannot close until after a certain date making certain you explain that a trip has been planned and that those points are not included in the sale.
