Hi, i have a samsung 12 megapixel camera but most of our disney photos came out blurry! If you push the button to get a green box it means it is in focus, red means it is not, so you push it again. I guess i needed to tell the CM's who took our pics that, because most of them are blurry at the character meals. It does take good pictures outside, but inside it always wants the flash on or else it's blurry.. but the flash doesn't make it look right. So.. we are going to disney again this October and i need a good point and shoot camera. Does anyone have a recommendation? I like a slim design, high mega pixels, and i want to be able to point and shoot. We have a fancy Canon camera with the lens attachments. DH spent hundreds on it, but it frustrates me, it's too large, and it takes forever to focus and take the photo that i end up getting the wrong moment i didnt' want taken because it's focusing. I looked on Amazon through reviews, prices, camera, etc. and thought i found a great one, then it came and it looked so cheaply made that i sent it back, and the battery door cover wouldn't even latch correctly. I need my fellow Dis'ers to help me out please. Thanks!

Last November, I got a Red Kodak Fz41 at a wonderful price at Best Buy (BB for short)--they price matched Wal-Mart. I was happy because the camera was a bright red and also used AA batteries. That said, a couple weeks later on my December Disneyland trip, the camera gave out :/ What happened was the batteries were not making proper contact with the cells inside. As a result, the camera would say "low battery" all the time or not work at all. A couple times, this was so strange, the camera lense would refuse to close! I am local with an AP for this last year so the camera quitting was definitely disappointing but better than if it had been a once only trip. Anyway, a BB manager (we had gotten the warranty on it) was so kind and overrode the standard procedure of sending the camera out to be fixed. The Geek Squad saw the problem pretty quickly and ended up refunding our money and then reordering the camera. The only downside was red was no longer available so the camera we have now is black. I have only had one digital camera, a Canon A550. My dad had a Kodak C310 along with an Elph 115 that never worked properly. This Kodak takes superior pictures to all of them! It actually self corrects in darkness--took great pictures in Winnie the Pooh for example.

One other consideration with AA operated cameras are your battery choice. I started out trying Rechargeables. I charged up the brand new batteries a couple nights before a DL trip, the charger light fully turned green indicating the batteries were completely charged. The camera only took a few pictures before I was seeing the low battery warning. I ended up buying regular AA's at DL (always bring your own back up) and the camera worked just wonderfully.

I would highly recommend you test out any camera at home before a trip to be sure it works properly and you're satisfied. Have a fantastic trip :)

I have a Nikon point and shoot. Small, lightweight, easy to use. Before that I had a Sony and Canon, both broke within a small period of time. Been pleased with the Nikon.

You should look at the Canon PowerShot G9x - much better sensor than most point & shoot cameras, but still in a compact body

i cancelled my previous order and bought this! thanks for sharing, the G9x looks great, hope it is worth the $429. I need the full hd video to look good! I have older cameras that say full hd but on my hd tv it's blurry. If only it was waterproof.

Hold out for waterproof! I have an awesome little Olympus Tough model which has taken years of wonderful shots and videos, including in and about The wave pool in TL. It was not terribly expensive at all, under $200 about 5 yrs ago. I have never even bothered to explore most of its features.

I just opened this camera today, and got the BEST experience I ever had with a camera. Can't say enough good things about it. Amazing! Easy to use, touch screen is awesome. The quality is perfect. The HD video is actually HD and crystal clear on my big HD TV. Thanks so much for recommending it!!!!!!! I love the special effects shots, that is going to be priceless at Disney. I can't wait to take it to Disney. Thanks again!

I'm really glad to hear you are liking it! It is sometimes tricky to make camera recommendations because each person is usually looking for something different: image quality vs. price, simplicity vs. versatility, size vs. features, etc, and all of these qualities are subjective. What is a good image, or simple to use, or small, or feature-rich to one person might be horrible quality, very confusing/complex, on the bigger side, or lacking many basic options to another.

That being said, it seemed that you were mainly looking for a point & shoot with a great sensor that wasn't too big, so that was a slightly easier recommendation. Enjoy your next Disney trip!!

It is going to be awesome to have this camera at Disney. I love the creative shots! I hope i can figure out the fireworks setting and get some good ones at Disney with it. The touch screen is great!
