Now I do not know what to do! I just got fired from my job today and we haven't bought tickets, saved any money for food, gas or other expenses. I just do not know what to do I am so upset right now!

So sorry! We all feel for you! :grouphug:

Have you made any official reservations at all?

sorry but It will work out. Good luck  :Pinkbounc

Wow.... Have faith! Everything will work out.

so sorry!!! you may just have to postpone, either way it will work out. Disney is always there and it will only get better.

The condo is almost paid for. We can afford to pay it off. Good thing is I do have 2 interviews this week so maybe that will help. We also might be able to use taxes. I am sure it will work out but right now it just looks really bad. LOL.

We aren't going this year, but will in 2007. Good luck with your interviews. Think Disney!

Keep thinking positive!!! It will work out the way it's supposed to. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you.

We were a month from our 10th anniversary trip to Paris (France!) when DH got laid off. :earseek: We panicked and pulled the plug. . . and have been kicking ourselves ever since. We should have taken the trip!

My advice is to take the vacation, but maybe spend your money a little more frugally than you might have before (if you don't get a job in the meantime!). Sometimes having less money to spend is actually better for your vacation!! The free things to do at WDW sometimes require you to take more time to enjoy the ambiance. :confused3 How can that be a bad thing?

Don't get discouraged. It took DH a year (!), but the right job came along and we are all the better for it. In the end, everything works out like it was supposed to. Of course, that is easier to say when it is all over than when we were right in the middle of it. . . But we have been there and wish we'd done THAT (going rather than cancelling).

Go, forget about the "real world" and focus on the fantasy for a little while. And remember: Wishes do come true!! :wizard:

I was going to suggest using your tax return and I agree - go or you might regret it. It's fine for some people to postpone, but I know it would kill me if I had to do that (just my type A personality I guess). Good luck with the interviews!

Just curious ... were you fired or were you laid off? You don't have to answer if you don't want. Just wondering 'cause if you were laid off you'd at least get unemployment. In any case, I'm sending good vibes your way that you still get to go on your trip. :goodvibes

Dont dispair! The parks will always be there, in fact there is always something new or improved. My fam hasnt been since DD14 was 9! Next trip will be next year, and when we get our IRS refund, Im reserving a room and putting down $1000, to make paying for the rest next year easier. Im also saving my change, every time I break a dollar. In the first month I only saved up $13, but thats something, at least. Besides, it keeps in my mind the fact that we are finally going back next year :cool1:

Sending a hug for what you are going through right now
And sending tons of pixie dust for you to find a new job fast! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
Only you know what's best for you, you have to decide what you are comfortable with and that will help you with your decision on to go or not. Everyone is different.

I know how you're feeling, because I had to cancel our December trip when my DH still hadn't found a job. At his level, it takes a long time! I was feeling really sorry for myself for a while, and then I got over it, and realized that it's all part of being responsible and careful with our money. (If you decide to go and you're still not employed, be ready for the family members to raise an eyebrow at you!) If you think you'll be employed again quickly, it's not as big a deal. Good luck to you, whatever you decide. It's so true that WDW will still be there later, should you decide to postpone or cancel. :flower:

Actually they were nice enough to give me the choice. I could change my resignation date from 1/20 ( I was already planning on leaving it was a HORRIBLE company to work for) and make it for 1/6 (which also happened to be my 5 yr wedding anniversary) or get fired. If I resigned, I at least got my vacation and sick time payout. If I got fired, I got nothing.

Well that just stinks! You've already gotten some great advice, so I only wanted to add.....lots of luck with your interviews and I'm sure things will work out for the best! :flower3:

My husband just said we are not going to cancel it. The only things we might have to cancel are going to Universal and cancelling some ADR's because of the cost. I have 7 of them so I think I will narrow it down to 2 and call it good!

If I'm reading this correctly, I think you are only out two weeks of pay that you had counted on coming in. I think your plan is a good one. Cutting the Universal day and a couple of ADRs should make up for the contribution those two weeks would have made towards the trip.

Good luck--I hope it all works out.

Sending lots of hugs & pixie dust your way!!! Keep the trip as planned, just cut back. Have a great time!!! Good Luck!!! :earsboy:

Sending some pixiedust your way. No one wants to hear that they're no longer wanted at a job, even if that job stinks and you planned to leave anyway. I hope all goes well with your interviews.

If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, take a look at Undercovertourist.com . They still have some passes at the 2005 rate. Depending on the type of pass that you're buying, you may be able to save a significant amount of money.

Since, you're planning to go anyway but are going to cut back on expenses, try hopping over to the Budget Board to get some cost-cutting ideas. I think that reducing the ADRs and skipping Universal is a good start. You'll save quite a bit of $$ that way. Check MouseSavers.com - Cheap Eats for suggestions on where to find the best bang for your buck when eating in the parks.

Another cost-cutter would be to drastically reduce the souvenir budget. Take lots of pictures and save them as your memories of the trip.

If you're renting a car, make sure that you've gotten the best possible rate. Check Mousesavers.com - rental cars for discount codes and coupons. Change your ressie to a compact car if it will save you a significant amount of money.

I hope that you'll discover that you can still afford to go after you redo your budget. If not, keep in mind that WDW is not going anywhere and there's nothing wrong with postponing the trip until your finances are more stable. Good luck!
