and added corn to the recipe. Does anyone add their own ingredients? I also put 1/4 pork and 3/4 beef. We're going to have it for dinner tomorrow.

Wish I had dinner at your house, Jodi! Yummmmmmmmmmmm! When I briefly lived in VA, I made chili a lot. Now that I'm back in FL, I rarely make it thanks to the hot weather. :(

Ill have a bowl, hold the corn and pork

We had homemade chili tonight as well. We also had homemade Mexican Cornbread which could be a meal by itself.

On the bottom you just use a jiffy cornbread mix but add corn...then you layer onions and hamburger meat cooked together, then you add jalepenos, then you add a mixture of sharp and regular cheddar then on top you add another jiffy cornbread mix w/or w/out corn.

It is sooo thick and sooo good!

A friend of mine serves her chili over rice. It thought she was nuts until she force fed me to try it.;) It's pretty good that way.:) I don't like corn in my chili. If it's in there, I'll pick it out. One of my SO's nephews insists adding beer to his chili. I don't like the sounds of that.

Disnee Dad Says.........................................You need to ask tinkymom the secret to good chili, she has entered only two chili cookoffs, and came in second in one and won the other one!!

Pork, yes. Corn, no.

Any meat can make a great chili!

Go for flavor, not heat. Gasoline is useless unless you have an engine to put it in to. Same with chili, if you don't have a great "engine", gas will only try to cover a weak engine and it won't work.

Hot is easy, spicey is much harder.

BTW, Beer can add a great flavor to chili if you add a dark flavor, but a little Jack Daniels will work everytime!

Jodi,
I made chili yesterday and put it in the fridge to season for tonights dinner... mexican cornbread sounds good, how do you make it.

Hmmm, ya'll are making me hungry for chili. I think I'll make some tomorrow.::yes::

I LOVE CHILI! Unfortunately, I haven't made it in a while, as my DD17 and I are on Jenny Craig. They have chili, but certainly not like I make it!

We always have our chili over spaghetti noodles and put shredded cheddar cheese on top -- I think that's pretty close to what they call "Cincinatti Chili" (Skyline Chili).

YUM!

they were selling chili at my ds football game at the concession stand served in bread bowls....yum!

There is nothing better that a good pot of Texas Chili (no beans). The weather has finally got below 80 degrees here in Houston and it is time for some chili.
