I LUV Southwest!

Boo! All I got was an email that says I can get 30% off buying or gifting points.

That's what I got too. And as far as I can tell, it's no bargain.

I clicked the link in the email to check out the 30% discount since I do need to book flights for October.

To get enough points for the flight I wanted, I would have needed to spend $240.63 plus the $5/each way fee when I book so $250.63.

However, if I just pay CASH for the exact flight, it comes to $238.

And that's WITH the 30% discount. Go figure... :confused3

Southwest must really think we're stupid...

I think it's more just for those who might need a couple thousand extra points to book their flights.

I got 500 points and 20% off. But I don't think I'll be able to use it. We have flights booked already, with EBCI. So I think I would have to actually cancel the flights and rebook with the code. I am worried I would lose my EBCI.

It's possible though that after the change, the 20% off won't be any cheaper than what I've already got.

I got a letter with 500 miles to jump start my vacation. That's all the letter said. No discount, just free points. I have the regular card.

It's because of the devaluation that is going into effect after March. The flights are about to cost more $$$ and points to book, so they are trying to soften the blow.

I've been thinking about signing up for the progrm. Can the points be redeemed for a ticket in anyones name? Could I book a flight for DM using my points?

DH & I both have the Southwest card and we got nothing:(

I know if you simply change your reservation, the conf. # stays the same, then you keep your EBCI. If you must cancel the res and start a new one, you will lose your EBCI.

Oh and no bonus pts for me. Only the offer for the discount to buy points. Darn. Where's the luv?

I as well got the 1,000 point bonus and 20% off code. I got the credit card last year and honestly that's the only reason I fly them right now cause of the miles we received.

I received this e-mail too and wondered if was padding (breaking the blow) for the point valuation increase at the end of the month... Nothing in America is free... LOL...

I was thinking the same thing since the 20% discount isn't good until the point value decreases. I received the email that says 1000 bonus points and 20% discount. However they didn't add 1000 points to my account!!:confused3

My husband and one of my daughters each got 50,000 points! Nice surprise!

Wait....what??? They just got 50,000 surprise points?
Wait......my bad......I just double checked. It said they could receive $50,000 for opening the SW Visa.

My husband already has a SW Visa for his business so he's not opening another one and neither is our daughter.

Would have been nice though!

My husband got that email too. I already have the SW visa so we are not sure if we want another one or not. Anyone know how long you have to keep the card before canceling? Maybe I will cancel mine and let him get one!

Awww...too bad! I was going to be super jealous though :)

If you already have one and received 50,000 points this year, it's a better plan to open another different SW card in your name because then you will get to 110,000 points and get a companion pass.

I got mine more than a year ago. Didn't know about the companion pass or I would have done that. Maybe close mine, and have my husband get two?!
