I love credit cards so much!

I have finished researching apple watch deals...I think.
Seems costco and best buy are the same price, but best buy has the amex deal too. So I will go that route.
Any cashback portals work with apple through best buy? What about returns? I saw returns through 1/27 for elite members but there isn't a restocking fee or anything I need to be aware of right?
I went through the SW RR portal for DS's iPad and scored the points plus the bonus with it! (it was the only thing I purchased.)

I bought one for my daughter from Best Buy today (white band with aluminum--gift from Grandma and Grandpa). Swagbucks may pay out 2% but I'm not counting on it.

I think Target will have the Series 3 (that's the one DD is getting) for $199 on BF, but I'm too lazy.
Thanks for mentioning target. I need the bigger size, so I am guessing it will be $230, assuming same discount. That will be the same as best buy with the amex deal. Like you, I am going to buy it at BB now and save myself the headache. :)

welll I only got the offer for 10k points....how is that great? what am I missing?

to me, i think the benefit outways the fee. $450 - tradeoff is $300 credit + a 50k night room($150 value, anything above that is profit to u). other things worth mentioning is another TSA pre fee reimbursement. Free Gold too if u havent achieved it in another fashion.

@calypso726 IHG free night cert question. When you use the cert, do you pay the taxes and resort fees? Looking at a Kimpton in Seattle for next year but taxes and fees would be 100. Still a good deal on a 500 room but want to know what to budget and possibly look at something else for lower out of pocket. Thanks.

DH and I have used our IHG free night certs for stays at the Willard in DC. We were not charged and resort fees or anything else it was $0 each time since we never did charge anything to the room.

Following along :) Taxes should all be included, but I think the resort fees are separate. I haven't stayed with a resort fee yet so I'm not sure what happens in practice, but the one I have booked right now is showing only that fee as payable and the rest of the stay is 0.

It's possible that it may vary depending on the location. The only hotel I've used a free night cert and had to pa a fee has been at Marriott Village in central FL. They charge something per night for parking or some such.

Is the chip and pin a real advantage? It might take few seconds longer but I never had any issues with just signing -- I know I used several cards that have a chip but no pin over the last few years in the Uk and Northern Europe.

Only if you are at an unmanned kiosk. Chip and signature will not work. We've come across the situation maybe twice.

DH and I are huge introverts so it's "saved" us from having to interact with the agents in London's Underground (reloading Oyster cards), cashiers at McD's in Amsterdam and Prague (introverts with the palates of 4 years olds) and not getting the evil eye by cashiers in Zurich. It literally stays in my "travel wallet" and that's the only time I use it. So for us, it's worth it, especially since I have the no-fee Arrival right now. No fee for decreased interaction-score :)

From one introvert to another, I totally get that.

Another thing about the Arrival+ is that it is true chip and pin. Great for Europe.

Been slow around here... guess people are busy/traveling for the holiday.

Not me. I'm trying to convince myself to get up and get ready for work. :faint:

We were in London without chip & pin which is an issue on the tube. We found a work around using Apple Pay. But now my AMEX Gold shows that it's a contactless card, so I'm thinking that would work and we don't need chip & pin. That was the only time it mattered during out trip (N. Europe, though). I'm asking since I can see getting one just for the PIN, but I don't want another card if I don't need one.

Saw in informed delivery I was supposed to get a targeted AA mailer today. It was not in my mailbox. this is like the fourth one that has shown but never arrived. I really wonder if my mail person is taking these. Checks also seem to go missing and never arrive. This is why I pay a bit extra for my GCM orders to be shipped with tracking...
Absolutely report this. There should be a spot online in informed delivery to report mail not received, I recall seeing the option but I’ve never used it. Personally, I wouldn’t report it just to the local office, I would make sure to file an online report via informed delivery for missing mail so that someone outside the local office knows. Maybe it’s being delivered to the wrong person, maybe it’s being stolen- which is literally a crime. Either way 100% not ok!

The Arrival+ hasn't been relaunched long enough yet to churn, but in the past typically you'd need to have it closed at least 6 months. If you closed your last A+ in January and your TU is relatively clean (and you're around 6/24), I'd go for it.

They aren't strict on exactly 6/24 the way Chase is, right? I'm at 6/24 until 2/19, but I may try applying for the Arrival+ at the end of the year

@havaneselover did you do the AppleCare? I wonder if DH doesn't want the watch do I get a refund for AppleCare too if I buy it now?

Just bought a new iphone last night, they were trying very hard to get me to get applecare again, I had it on my last phone, so proud I didn't cave in, because that is what the CIP is for and the purchase protection of the SPG lux! What they were telling me is if you buy the applecare you can get it refunded for a prorated amount if you return it.

Ok, thank you!

Ugh! Besides a new iPad, DS11 has asked for exactly nothing for Christmas. Our tree is going to look very empty this year. Plus we don’t even have the distraction of being in the Caribbean in this year :( Now to find some gifts to help with my AmEx MSR.
This is DS this year. The only thing he wants is Xbox or similar, which he is not getting. I’m actually done shopping. I just got him stuff I know he’ll like, like Ninja Gym camp, and will return stuff if he comes up with a list. Telling my mom, sister and in laws what to get is harder.

So not fair for us Northern Californians...:headache:

It's always like this, and really annoying. I'd visit DL more often if they extended the discounts to the entire state, like they do with WDW and Florida. Instead we end up choosing other destinations (sometimes WDW or DCL, sometimes non-Disney). They'd get much more of my money if they didn't artificially divide up the state.
