I love credit cards so much!

I had a pile going too. I had listed most of the pile on FB but had zero luck. Even when people would respond that they were interested, or wanted more info/made an offer, I would message them and they wouldn't respond. I even would go comment on the post and tag them letting them know I'd messaged them. I could see that most of them had read my message too :confused3

I finally listed some stuff on Ebay last week - like I have 2 Victoria's Secret Pink Hoodies that were worn maybe twice... I probably could have done Buy It Now and maybe got a little more, but I put them as auctions starting at $5. They both sold for $14 each plus shipping... So will I get a lot, no, but they're gone and a few bucks is more than goodwill would have gotten me. At least it will pay for the packing tape for the rest of the packages I need to send... :rotfl:

ETA: Now I'm kind of tempted to sell another hoodie I have, I actually wore it more but it's still in very good shape. But on the other hand, it was my very first purchase on my very first credit card, which was a VS store card :rotfl:
I have a pile of books I’ve been trying to sell on amazon but the price keeps dipping lower and lower from other people and I have to match that. Some of my books got so low that the amazon fee is more than what I’m selling the books for. I started with about 20 books and I’m now down to about 5 that are still at a decent enough price for me to make money. Maybe I should try selling them on eBay instead.

I hate the semi-dynamic ticket pricing more than anything I think. I don't see how changing prices month to month will really control crowds. A lot of people can only go to Disney during summer or school breaks. DH and I can travel absolutely whenever (and we'd never do Disney in summer) so we're rare I guess.

A mickey bar is optional. Gate price isn't - either you pay or you don't go. At least they still give away free cups of water (for now!)

This is why we churn - to make these trips more affordable!
I’m a little confused by the whole ticket system. Isn’t there a weird timing thing that you have to use them in so many days? Like if we went for a week would we have to use them the first day we are there and in consecutive days?

The CIP codes 3x on Venmo....but don't forget venmo has a fee that basically wipes it out. Good for MSR though.

Thanks, I think I did read that here recently. I don't mind the fee being a wash; I'll still have the cc protection and sign up bonus. But I should add that we're hesitant on the business cards, so would prefer a 3x on a personal card (if available). Thanks!

Were the AMEX clawbacks only for multiple Staples offers used? I don't remember seeing anything on Lowe's

Yeah I think. People are annoyed that like to go before and after cruises. In the big thread about the price change, there are people talking about their tickets expiring before they get back on land or something or other. I think the price is dictated by your first date of use or it matches your resort check-in or something. I would need to read more about it. I have an AP right now and I was thinking it just makes sense to do an AP every other year so I didn't read too much about the new rules. We'll see how much the AP price goes up tho - yikes. You know it's coming (along with another DVC price increase too, probably).

Has Disney announced the new prices? I need to know (before Oct 16) how much tickets would cost for Easter week 2019. Looking into UT and WA, which is where I usually buy my tickets anyway.

You are fine...I just edited my post anyway as it didn’t make sense. I meant with the CIP not working for Plastiq it is not as good of as a value. My husband has all three of the Ink cards now and I have the CIP. Right now I am just waiting until it has been a year so I can close it out. I have no reason to put spend on it. (I put cell phone bill, Netflix, and our internet on his CIP).

Amex business cards are a lot easier and less stressful to get. So you might want to look hard at those.

@DisneyMandC I am so sorry. I have this pool of UR points right now that I don’t even know what to do with. Thanks for putting in the word on Disney.

Thanks. I did understand it, even without the word Plastiq in there. I guess I'm catching on to things finally. And yeah, I'm not sure I see the value in adding on another card with another AF at this point.

Can you explain more about why/how the AMEX cards are easier/less stressful? We have a bunch of MRs but I wouldn't mind having more.

I'm getting conflicting advice here, which is really great since no one thing works for everyone, but it's taking me time to research all the options.

Standing in line for Peter Pan’s Flight right now, and they’ve temporarily suspended boarding because a family in front of us had a toddler who dropped a mushy poop in line then proceeded to board the attraction anyway. Seriously, Disney warps prople’s priorities sometimes.

:scared1:

I need to figure out how to start selling some stuff on ebay. Any recommendations on where to start? Tutorial?

I'd be interested in this, too.

Sure, they probably paid a lot of money to be here, woke up really early to make rope drop, and still waited 30 minutes to right Peter Pan first thing today. But when your 3 year old has to poop, you take him to go poop! They can’t hold it in yet. But no, their kid ends up pooping a huge one in line (and they had another turn and maybe two dozen people ahead of them before they could board), the kid steps in it, but they don’t mention it to anyone, and gets on the ride anyway. A family ahead of us saw the kid was covered in poop and left poop on the ride seat. Eventually other people in line (and the poop itself) made enough of a stink that the CMs realized what happened, and stopped boarding to sanitize the ride. That family just had to get theirs and shut down the ride for everyone else. SMH.

Just. So. Wrong.

Seriously, I've never seen anything show people's selfish side like a trip to Disney. Not to mention the disgusting part. I don't even understand the kind of people who could do this. Seriously. SMH

We really need the vomiting smilie. I just can't even wrap my brain around this. I mean, even if they thought the 3yo could hold it and decided to stay in line, once the poo was out, I'd be out of line so fast and running for the bathroom. Not proceeding on like nothing happened :headache: But no, kids that young cannot hold it. When they say they have to go, you take them!

Hope the rest of the day goes better...I will say, I've been having a lot of sadness lately missing DLR. But between your reports of a packed park and kids pooping in line and getting PPF shut down, it's helping with my sadness some!

I'm mainly wondering if you have to use your ticket by a certain start date because we don't always go to a park on the first day we get there. I could see why the cruise people would be upset.

Has anyone recently done an online Staples order with gift cards for Retail Me Not lately and had it credit?

I had some credit before but but it was in August and I haven't done any online since then.
My staples online did not credit. In store, I had no problems.

I don't think so, but I might be wrong. I just went on the website and it looks the same as it always did. I thought it was supposed to switch over on like Oct 16.

We never go to a park on our check in day. It takes all day to fly to MCO and we generally get there at night. It would be ridiculous if they didn't understand that.

As for the cruises, we've done a couple WDW-DCL-WDW splits and they were fantastic. Nothing like a short cruise in the middle of WDW rush/madness/crowds to get a bit of relaxation. If they make that impossible (or harder than it already is now that I have to wait to book the 2nd set of FPs and ADRs) then I'll simply not be willing to do it again. Disney seems to be getting more money from lots of people, but they are going to be getting less from us. It's not a good way to treat your long time customers, esp. since the money from that 4 day break in the middle of WDW is still going to Disney. Very short sided way of looking at things.

Several of my legit business expenses are 3x on CIP, is there a way to know if they would get 5x on CIC? I'll probably write off part of the annual fee since the only non-business spend is cell and part of internet, but if I could switch to no AF, that'd be even better overall.

Google Domains (in the process of moving from NameCheap because NC does not 3x)
Amazon Web Services
Adobe Creative Cloud
then various hosting

Not Staples, but here’s a DP.

I did a Sam’s Club online order through RMN and stacked it with an Amex Offer. Purchased the $150 Disney GC pack only; no fillers. Took awhile but the Sam’s Club RMN offer credited back $5. Lol

I'm hoping someone comes out with an article shortly after October 16 (or whenever the new prices go into the system) explaining how this works. It's funny because Disney said it would make things easier for people, but I've never been more confused in my life.

I need someone to hold my hand wrt Chase Pay.

Tomorrow I'll be going to Shoprite. I always use self-scan bc there are special registers for those with reusable bags. I know I've seen a sign promoting Chase Pay at those registers. How do I actually use it? I generate a QR code in the app? and then scan it...how?? With the little scanning gun thing?

I think I'm up too late :p

How'd this work out for you? I just did Shoprite yesterday and was happy to see the sign clamped to all the registers advertising the Chase Pay, even in my little SR, but the cashier still didn't know how to work it. He did the, 'oh I think you tap that there' and I was very quick to say 'nope, you need to scan this QR code here, that's the only way it works. do you have a different payment option maybe?' so he pressed something and tried the scanner gun but it wasn't active so no scan. Fortunately there was a couple of the CS leaders nearby so I didn't have long to wait, he called over, one said "Oh wait, yeah, I know how to do that!". This is the part that wasn't helpful, she said "you go here, then Chase Bank, then here" and voila the scanner gun is now active and scanned the code. But no idea what the "here" and "here" were and how that translates into the self checkout. Was it easy, did a Chase option pop up as a payment type?

That's just corporate speak for "we make is simpler for us to get more of your money." Honestly, the more complex they make it, the more they make it less likely that I'm going to book a trip there. In the past it was easy and I knew what to do and how to do it so we often defaulted to a WDW vacation. That's not happening any more. We're ignoring the PIN code that DD got. And I love Disney. I can't imagine what this is like for people who don't have the same understanding of how to book a WDW trip. I suspect it leads to some of the bad behaviors we've seen in the parks lately, with hangry people yelling at or hitting their small children. :confused3

Are they textbooks? I have quite a few that I want to get rid of, but the catch is that they're loose leaf. I think publishers have gotten wise and only offer the texts this way, so the ability to rent/sell back is taken away. I'd rather sell the ones I have (because I will never need my Intro to Humanities text ever again), but I'm not sure of the success rate of offloading loose leaf texts.

I think you select your start date. So if you won’t go till day 2 then make that your start date.

I'm kind of known at my school that I sub at as the "Disney" enthusiast. People always come up to me and ask when our next trip is. The amount of people that talk bad about Disney surprises me until I listen to them further and realize they did next to no planning for their trip. I go through and explain all of the FPs rules and dining and they look at me like I'm crazy lol. I always mention that I had to read an 800-page book (Unofficial Guide Book) before our honeymoon to be prepared for our first Disney/Universal trip as a couple.
