I love credit cards so much!

I'm the guy that shows up to the station with my 5 gallon plastic tanks, LOL. We have Six 5-gallon tanks - it's rare that I end up needing to use all of them (unless the cars are full and I have perks expiring). So typically I have to bring 3 or 4 of the tanks along with filling up one of our cars. LOL. I've been doing this longer than I've been churning...I started chasing gas savings back on our first trip with our daughter in 2011. And that led us into Extreme Couponing too... I've had some wild and weird obsessions!

We do the gas can thing too since Kroger's max is 35 gallons. Everyone thinks we're weird . . .

I'm having a hard time keeping up with this thread. And my question relates to old news....

How long did it take for your SPG Luxe to arrive?

I upgraded mine...and still don't have the new card. Just using the old one. They apparently ran out of the new cards.

Same upgraded and still no new card. Which rather bugs me since I keep confusing it with my SPG business. For those who have both is it darker than the other SPG's? It looks like it is a darker color in the online/app images.

Very seriously considering getting the Disney Visa for DH. Can I take his card with me to WDW and get the perks even though he's not with me? I'm assuming not, but I don't really want to use a spot for an AU.

I guess it would depend on what size of purchase and how vigilant Disney decided to be. To get the Visa discount you need to spend $50 and my experience has been with charges that much they want identification. Few times we have tried to do one of the meet and greets they have meticulously wrote down card number and name but not sure if they would care if he was not there.

Anyone here planning to try the ABD Japan trip? Asking because that one is making me think seriously about ABD...

We are! Plane Princess and I are booked on the September 29 adults only trip. We are also going with friends we met on the Norway, Iceland, Scotland cruise and my TA who has become one of my BFFs. We are all very excited about going. I have no hesitation traveling to Japan on my own but that itinerary looks amazing. DH and I always swore we’d do Japan with ABD the first year it came out. We figured it would only get more expensive over time and they’d likely change the itinerary. We are paying it with over $25,000 in Disney gift cards purchased either at 10% or better discount or 5x UR. Plan A for flights is to fly ANA in first with Virgin miles that we transferred from MR with a 30% bonus transfer. Plan B is Cathay Pacific in first with AA miles. Plan C is JAL in first or business with AA miles. I’m so excited about this trip! I am hoping to get in a day or two early and do some fun things in Tokyo first.

Would it be tacky to give a Visa gift card as a wedding gift instead of cash? And to make it worth my while, I guess it would need to be 2 since at Kroger I can only buy up to $100 to get the fuel perks.

I don’t think so.

I’m fairly sure @calypso726 is doing it next year. When announced, it sold out very quickly for 2019.

I think I was the only one from the AbD threads not excited about it:laughing:

Yes! No worries, I think I’m excited enough for both of us LOL

Can’t wait to hear about this one. I’m not afraid to go there alone either, but I agree that the itinerary looks really good and I’m tempted to check it out when they release future dates.

Yes, it is definitely darker (just pulled both out to compare because nothing is too much for DisBoard friends!) and has the little rainbow-y thing next to the CVV. Honestly not as pretty as my biz (imho).

I'm sure you are! I keep thinking one day our UK/Ireland paths will connect since we're usually there around the same time.

Lux bonus points posted in Amex account like a week before the statement cut on 9/24...Points from purchases showed up on 9/25.....still NO new points in my actual SPG/Marriott account. Chatted with 3 reps and got 3 different answers. First they were approved and they would be in there 24 hours after the statement. Next rep told me 8 weeks. Last rep just told me they are pending and not approved. Called him out on chat because I wasn't a happy camper that I can get 3 different answers from 3 different reps, and if I signed off and on again...I would have a fourth different answer. I have no need for the points right this second but it is on principal.

This is what happened with my CSP a couple months ago! I just had 10,000 show up, no support clicks I know of, showed up several days after my statement closed. Just went straight into my account.
I had this happen as well for my CSP, just said adjustment in the recent activity. I figured it must be the referral, but thought it was weird that it wasn't under the refer-a-friend under rewards breakdown. Hoping that I'll still get the referral points!

Depends on what perk I guess. You can get all the same perks with the rewards redemption card too (or most at least), but you usually have to pay with it to get it if it's a discount.

Don’t forget that all of the 110k points need to be earned in the same calendar year. So if you do $2k spend now that 2k in points would be in 2018 and you would to make up those 2k in points in 2019.
So if I'm understanding correctly we may have an issue. If he applies for the biz in early Oct , it is recommended he wait at least a month to apply for the personal card in early Nov. He would have no problem spending the $3000 in 3 months on the biz card. Then he has to spend an additonal $7000, at least 1k on the new personal. Does it matter if he splits up that extra 6k in spending between the two new cards?

I just started getting Disney giftcards too. I booked a 2019 trip in December at the Beach Club so I’m hoarding them for that. Most I have been getting at 40% off so I won’t be too mad but I’m also not sitting on 2k.

Please, please school me here and explain how you are getting 40% or even close to it. I always go for 5x UR but when I can get 10% off or better then I switch. Thanks in advance.

I feel you! Plus I am just terrible at live performances of ANYTHING---get all figity and bored so I can't swallow the idea of spending that much money. I have realized I am totally not a cool kid like the calypsos :rotfl:

You so too are one of the cool kids as is everyone else who posts here!

I think it was just a few days before it arrived.

My friend's boss went last weekend and saw both parts in one day and highly recommended breaking the show into 2 days because one day was just too long. Plus she felt that the show could have easily been an 1 1/2 hours shorter. So I was looking for tickets to do that just that which clearly means a longer stay in NYC.

We saw both performances the same day in London and did the same in NYC. I liked it that way. i don’t think I would have been happy with waiting. Patience and I are not very well acquainted.

I just went down a Reddit hole and found this old article. I can't be convinced that this isn't @SouthFayetteFan

One of my favorite churning stories!

I haven’t checked recently but I do recall that more dates were released when all the Japan dates sold out in a week.

I'm sure you are! I keep thinking one day our UK/Ireland paths will connect since we're usually there around the same time.

That would be so much fun! Well we will be in Edinburgh June 27th and 28th. Then after that we will be in different parts of the country for the rest of the week. We will be visiting Stornoway and the Callanish Standing Stones again as well as Kirkwall and I know we are in Glasgow on our last day.

I think the 40% off is only with the RMN deal right now, since that's what that about works out to. I've gotten $175 in gift cards for $105. Obviously YMMV as to whether it will credit, being able to take advantage of all those deals, stores, etc. I think generally if you're getting 10%, you're doing very well.
