So my credit score is not very good, 640, credit karma is showing 1 charge off 2 years ago and 1 medical bill last year, I have no clue what it is, I would like to get my credit score up, What do y'all suggest is a good starter credit card that may earn rewards? My husbands credit is only slightly better than mine, No credit cards anymore, last one was like 15 years ago, He does do a lot of side jobs, but not sure he could get a business credit card or not.... any help would be appreciated--

and oh, just did RMN this week, and have 3 $10 pending from Walgreens, CVS and Home Depot...

So weird! I transferred $25 out of mine the other day for a Chase bank bonus and I know havaneselover did the same. No issues. Although I did get a letter in the mail from Fidelity yesterday about how I've set up EFT from my account. Lord, that bank loves to send some snail mail :sad2:
Did you already have an "extra" $25 in there? I had transferred my original $200 deposit out and just left the bonus $200 in. I didn't want to fall below $200 so I transferred money in and then out to PNC. They said that isn't allowed.

Went to CVS over my lunch and bought a $25 Disney gc and a box of Sour Patch Kids for my kiddos (they were out of hot tomales for me!). So far no notification that RMN is pending. I went yesterday to HD and Walgreens and got no filler items and both are pending.

Guess I just needed to post about it - just got the notification that it's pending!

My 100,000 marriott points just posted today from biz SPG. So my disney back up plan, if the no URs for disney is permanent, is to try the swolphin, which we've never stayed at. I like the location though. Just referred DH for SPG biz also. Instant approval, I love amex for that. Now on our 3rd $5000 amex spend within the last few months. :scared: :faint:

Ok - I decided to jump on this RMN bandwagon - just back from CVS and Walgreens - purchased $25 gift card and filler at each. $20 is pending in my RMN wallet.

I had $400 in my Fidelity account, $200 from the deposit and $200 bonus. I transferred $25 out and then transferred another $25 in from Ally for good measure.

I may be a data point on this soon! My reservation was transferred to Chase in July with intention of using UR via CSR. I have been holding off contacting the Connexions TA just to see what unfolds naturally, but I have a lot of points held for this and am anxious to find out what my options are!

This is my situation exactly. I don’t want to call because my head will explode if they tell me sorry, now you can’t pay with UR. When is your payment deadline?

Ok, thanks. I only left $200 in. Maybe they didn't like that I had transferred $200 out? I'm at a loss.

Not until April but I need to know if I need to jump on every gift card deal I can find. Right now I am collecting GCs for food and souvenirs but I will have to call if I start getting close to food and souvenir budget

Good news (maybe): Was just looking at my CSR account a little more closely while lamenting that I haven't gotten my bonus yet and everyone else has (not really but it sure feels like it!) I was thinking that my statement closed Aug 16 and that I had hit the spend at that point but I am pretty sure that I was still a little under and hit it right after that. And upon another look today, my statement actually closed the 19th, which means my second statement should be closing today. So those points should be showing up very soon now. I hope. Not that I am freaking out or anything...totally calm...it's all going to be ok...

More Good News: I checked my Avaitor Biz and finally have 50,000 bonus points!

Bad News: I had called because the offer went up to 60,000 points like two days later and they said I would get the extra 10,000. I did not. Another phone call, I guess...

I didn't get that, but I did get a random email saying I can take a survey and get a free year of Netflix. The email didn't generate from Netflix, but from newsletter@firmvip.com. I don't see any affiliation with RMN, Swagbucks, etc. although I have recently signed up with both of those companies. It is an email link so I am scared to click on it if it is a virus, especially because I am on my work computer. I googled that email address to see if it is a known spam source, but I didn't see anything negative. Anyone else get this or are familiar with the sender?

Sounds like even more of a TRAP (@Lain) than the one I got. At least for mine, which I won't be clicking but was curious so posted just to at least see if it could be legit, I did in fact get it via both my RMN accounts lol.

But if you look up just the website part of it, firmvip.com is out of India and their contact us page uses a gmail.

If the husband owns the business solely, and all the paperwork is in his name, I don't think the wife should apply using the official business name or EIN. The reasons being, (1) to apply for a card for a business, you need to be an authorizing officer: an owner, partner, member, president, vice president, or treasurer -- not just an employee; (2) if the wife applies for the card using the official business name (that doesn't match her legal name), Chase will want to see some documentation of her name and position with the business; (3) if she applies as a sole proprietor, it can't be with the business name -- it has to be her full name or it'll get flagged and go back to #2; and (4) if she applies with the EIN and not her SSN, Chase checks the EIN and will see only her husband's name on it.

I don't really have much experience with businesses owned by one spouse, but the other spouse applying for a business card using that business. I know there are some here who have done this. Don't rely on me for this, but I think they just applied as a sole proprietor, in their own legal name, using their SSN, but otherwise using the actual business's info for type of business, revenue, etc. It'd be more straightforward if the husband applies for the business cards since his name is on everything.

I would suggest one of them get the CIP now, then refer the other down the line whenever they're comfortable with the spend. Getting the CIP now would put about 3 months between now and mid- to late-December, when you're planning for one of them to go for the SW Biz.

As for why the husband should get the CP first,vs. the wife? That sort of depends on how they want to time their apps with at least 90 days in between business card apps (to avoid risk of denial or shutdown by Chase). If the husband goes for the CIP now, in 3 months he could go for the SW Biz and start chasing the CP for next year and 2020. If the husband gets the CIP now and refers the wife for her own CIP in October or November, that means the wife shouldn't go for the SW Biz until January or February. Also, again, you said you think the wife has a SW personal card already. She'd need to cancel that card before applying for another SW personal card.

(If the wife isn't comfortable going for biz cards in her own name, she can always go for the CSP or CSR, which the husband can't refer her to and has a smaller bonus than the CIP -- but still, 50,000 UR! However, since double dipping 2 personal SW cards is dead, the only way for her to eventually get the CP is by doing 1 SW Biz+1 SW personal card.)
Sorry I think this is last bit of info needed for this question.... in scenario noted DW has credit score of 726,(and a p/t job in childcare) but DH only 696. Obviously they need to raise those...what do you guess they're eligible for? I was thinking at the very least she could get a biz card with her DH as AU so the credit scores could go up from there....(?) just wondering if same goal works now, DW could get the CIP, Dh an AU,then she could go for SWA biz in Dec? or need to scale back to build credit with something else? (I mean sheesh, and legit biz and only a debit card for years....)

DoC has data points on what card has coded what. you should check the list!

yup. its still there!
I did.... there are two data points that say FU works, is that enough to say for sure it's not a CA? haven't done this before

I have had my Chase SW Premier for a year. As soon as the AF hits and the anniversary points post I plan to cancel the card. I won't accept a retention offer as I may go for the CP again when eligible.

I also want to apply for the United Mileage Plus Explorer card before Oct 31.

Will closing one card with Chase and then opening another right after be a problem with Chase? Will they look at that as "this person just wants the bonus miles?"

We love Swolphin. Location is awesome. It’s more contemporary than cute Disney theme but very nice, and recently remodeled. At least Dolphin is, I booked Swan for the first time for next Spring Break. If you have any questions, check out the Swan/Dolphin thread on resort board here. They are very nice and super helpful.

While my boys (DH and DS) played at Dave and Buster’s since there is no school today, I went to Macy’s and used the RMN offer since DS is growing like a weed and needed some new UA sweatpants. Split the transaction between DH’s CIC and my CIU for $20 cashback. Win, win! And I remembered to use my AmEx at Starbucks for their offer. The mango, dragonfruit what it is is delicious!
