Why are all the Sheraton hotels I look at so outdated with only mediocre reviews??

Sheraton park hotel seemed a bit outdated to me, but not as bad as 90% of the off property hotels on Harbor. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the middle of a refurbishment within the next year for SWL.

We just checked out of the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and the rooms were undergoing a refurbishment. We got a brand new room that was nice and the view was amazing!

So does this mean her blog is no more and she will just contribute to TPG?

it seems like it. her link to her blog now points to TPG's site. but its under Family Travel so there might be a section that will only show her articles?

Can ya'll please help me formulate my next move...or moves? The red boxes mean I closed those cards.Screen Shot 2018-07-25 at 3.27.31 PM.png

And here is DH's: Screen Shot 2018-07-25 at 3.30.52 PM.png

I believe we will rent for a year when we relocate but we may possibly buy if the perfect place just happens to be for sale. So I need to take things easy for DH here soon. Moving in May. Don't want to have anything crazy on his report if we are app-ing for mortgages come April. I'm thinking I could do something now and then let his report rest.

Just a few quick thoughts:

- Weren't you saying you're rethinking your SW CP strategy since you'll be making the move and flying SW less? That opens up some possibilities with Chase if you don't need to save a spot or two for SW cards.

- Looks like you're 2/24, and only have one Chase biz card (the CIP), which was also your last Chase app back in 1/18 (6 months ago). Your last personal app was the SPG Personal, which would've been around mid-4/18 (more than 3 months ago). I think the time is right for a CIC for 50k UR (which neither you nor DH have), then round off the Ink trifecta later this year with a CIU (hopefully it's still at 50k UR). You know you'll always be able to find some use for URs wherever you're living or traveling.

- Re inquiries, they stay on your credit report for 2 years, but won't impact your score after 12 months.

no clue:rolleyes1
I am low on SWRR. We have a CP through this year and about 115k points right now. I can always use more of those, as they seem to be the best airline from BNA.
Also always good to hoard URs as they can transfer to SW or be used for disney, etc.

ETA: We want to do Hawaii when youngest DD is 4+. So that would be Christmas 2019 or the following summer, likely. We will need 2 rooms unless I book something that sleeps 6 thought the UR portal.

So I was thinking I'd do the SW CP now instead of January. So I could do the SW biz now and churn my personal. The signup bonus just isn't great on the personal but I could probably make the extra $15k/25kpoints on the premium. Just not sure if I should hold off and see if better sign up bonuses come about.

CIC is another good thought since I could look at that as 50k SWRR essentially. It just wouldn't help me get to CP, which I could use a few times between now and the end of 2019. I think after that I'd need the CP less.

Quick question while I'm catching up on this thread. 4 more pages to go...

Do we know what is happening to the automatic lounge access at Marriotts with the AMEX Platinum card that gives up SPG gold? We have a room booked for mid-August but are leaning towards staying elsewhere. But the lounge access could tip the scale. Is there any news on this front?

The SPG Gold that you get from the Amex Plat will still get you new-Marriott Gold status after 8/1/18, but the new-Marriott Gold status won't give you lounge access (you'll need new-Platinum status for that).

Thank you. I had a feeling it wouldn't last. Well, this makes my upcoming trip's hotel decisions much easier to make. Thanks for the info!

AA is a combination of DH picking up the Citi biz card, me picking up the Barclay Aviator biz card, AA shopping portal and AA rewards network dining and did speculatively purchase AA miles on the last 100% bonus offer. We go through AA miles like water and always make sure the redemption is worth way more than any amount we would have purchased. When it isn't, I book with AA gift cards or MR points and will get butt in seat miles for that.

One of my goals is to the use the cards we have more effectively. I have the AA Platinum card but I'm clearly not using it right. Can you tell me why you use the shopping portal & what I can do with a rewards network to get more points? I'm still new at this and feel like I've thrown away so many opportunities already.

Exactly. There’s no way I’d buy multiples of $25s or $50s if I wasn’t stacking SB; I’d just buy a $300 variable load GC to trigger the Amex Offer and be done with it.

Is this the same BB&B deal that says spend 25 get 5 back? Is there a way to use it for larger GCs? I am asking since we have a big Disney trip coming up in a few weeks but I didn't think it was worth it to go to BB&B for $5 one time. Well, I've been considering it, but I haven't gone yet... if I could get $5 a day that might be different.

No. @Lain is talking about the Best Buy spend $300 get $30 back. I have the offer 3 times and will get $90 for $900 spend. Some are putting in a swagbuck code to get extra swagbucks for each $50 they spend. But that requires multiple visits. I'll do it all in one go, and also will stop at Bed Bath and Beyond to do 3 offers on my cards.

Don't worry about the past but learn for the future. You are on the right track.

I just talked DH into stopping at Best Buy multiple times to combine swagbucks with the amex offer. Yay! But it's literally on our route home and we've been carpooling so well each do $50 a day. Weve got it on 5 cards, 7 if we can use the ILs.

Thanks for explaining things. I'm still struggling to keep up here. I'm not seeing the Best Buy offer (but DH might have grabbed that one) so I'm prob. not targeted for that one.

nd I got the email yesterday and we are going to the AP event on October 25! So excited it actually works out for once when we are there! And the price is definitely right. See the AP's practically pay for themselves. :)

I got in to that event too! Now I just have to convince my SO that going in July, August, September, and July is not insane lol we are really just getting value out of the APs

Anyone had luck pulling the 30k for the Amex Everyday preferred lately? I can't seem to get it in incognito on multiple devices. :confused3

Both best buy and buy buy baby allowed me to split payment. U could try that.

I did $300/$300 for $600 worth of best buy gift cards at best buy
I did $25/$25 for a $50 Starbucks gift card.

Start working on a business (or a "business") and then look at the Inks? 50-80k per card right now isn't bad. Hopefully that sticks around. Otherwise AmEx is pretty fast and loose with their biz cards if you can make MR points work for you :D (or hotel or airline points)

The business is tempting! I may have to consider it. I'm not sure about perusing into AMEX...I have the Blue Cash Everyday card and use it mainly for opportunity to get AMEX offers and groceries and gas when those are not CF categories. Otherwise it sits. I haven't wrapped by head around the whole MR world yet.
